21-year-old Pate Balde of the Bronx was arrested in the Town of Davenport Tuesday morning and charged with possessing narcotic drugs with intent to sell following a collaborative investigation by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Oneonta City Police Department and State Police. Balde was arrested at the Rock Inn Motel on State Highway 23, Oneonta, and charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Unlawful Possession a Marihuana. A search of the motel room, led to the seizure of 65 bags of heroin, 17 individual \u201cwraps\u201d of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, a small quantity of marihuana and more than $1000 cash. Balde was arraigned & he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 cash bail pending further court proceedings.

\nOneonta Fire Department responded to a fire on Monday at 130 Chestnut Street shortly after 2:00 AM. The fire displaced 4 people, all escaped the blaze, but 2 occupants suffered smoke inhalation. The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.

\nState Police arrested 41-year-old Gary Crosby of Chenango Forks, for 1 count 1st degree Assault, for allegedly stabbing of a 15-year-old male early Tuesday morning in the town of Union. Crosby was arraigned and was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

The Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigated a single motorcycle fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon on County Road 10A, in the Town of Preston. 38-year-old Steven Carpenter of Guilford, lost control and slid into a guide rail. The passenger on the motorcycle was 30-year-old Katelynn Coville of Guilford, Both died at the scene. The Cause of the crash is still under investigation.

\nThe Delaware County DPW will be closing County Route 4 in the Town of Sidney to through traffic today, starting at 7:00 AM, for the replacement of a culvert. The Closure will be from just south of the village of Sidney Limit, to just north of State Route 8. The road is expected to be re-opened at 4:00 PM.

\nGovernor Cuomo announced the availability of $200 million in enhanced assistance for local governments over the next two years to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts statewide. This funding, provided through the Governor’s BRIDGE NY initiative, is being administered by the New York State Department of Transportation as part of its $21.1 billion five-year Capital Plan.
