State Police have identified the deceased driver from yesterday\u2019s I-88 accident in Afton, as 31-year-old Noel Pike of Nineveh.\u00a0 Investigators reported that Pike was entering I-88 from the exit 7 Afton on-ramp, when she lost control of her 2005 Suzuki XL-7, she traveled into the passing lane where she was struck broadside by a tractor trailer operated by 52 year old Gary Donovan of Johnson City.\u00a0 Noel Pike was declared dead at the scene; Donovan was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City and was listed in critical condition. Police said that Passengers in the Pike vehicle were 29-year-old Rayne Pike of Nineveh, and a 4-year-old child; they were also transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing.<\/p>\n

The state legislature is expected to take up Governor Cuomo\u2019s proposal to increase the minimum wage, he discussed that issue as part of last week\u2019s executive budget unveiling:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

State police arrested\u00a034-year-old Joshua Mudge<\/strong> of Grand Gorge for 2nd<\/sup> degree Assault, following an investigation into a domestic dispute.\u00a0 Mudge was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Roxbury Court on February 6th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision will be holding an exam for their latest corrections recruitment effort. Angels Gate animal shelter of Delhi has been padlocked, and the owner of the facility faces 22 counts of animal cruelty.\u00a0 PETA began investigating Angel\u2019s gate following an appearance by owner Susan Marion of the Oprah Winfrey show, they claimed that Marino\u2019s claims of hospice & rehabilitation for the animals was false.\u00a0 Angel’s Gate was forced to close as part of a settlement of a lawsuit involving the New York State Office of the Attorney General office regarding financial donations; Marino faces the animal cruelty charges in Delaware county court.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
