The New York State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for December 2014. The state\u2019s private sector job count increased to 7,638,000, an all-time high. the state\u2019s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.8% in December. Locally, Chenango County\u2019s unemployment rate dropped 3\/10ths to 5.9% Delaware County dropped 4\/10ths to 6.3% & Otsego County\u2019s rate dropped 2\/10ths to 5.8% over the previous 12-month period.

\nState Police from Oneonta arrested 31-year-old Cassandra Izard of South New Berlin, for Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable BAC result of 0.16%, twice the legal limit. The arrest followed a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Burdick Road and County Route 18 in Pittsfield; Izard is accused of failing to stop at a stop sign, & striking a utility pole, while intoxicated. Izard was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Pittsfield Court on February 2nd.

\nState Police from Deposit arrested 31-year-old Michelle Murphy of Deposit for Criminal Contempt. Troopers responded to a complaint at a residence on State Route 8 in Deposit, the investigation determined that Murphy had violated a valid order of protection; she was arraigned before the Town of Deposit Court and was released after posting $250 cash bail.
