\nWednesday night, the Bainbridge Fire Department was called to the scene of a garage fire attached to a house at 160 Dingman Hill Road. Sidney, Afton, Mount Upton, Guilford, Franklin fire departments responded. Crews stayed on scene for about 3 hours, no injuries were reported.

\nA series of New Laws went into effect yesterday, to Help Veterans, Protect Kids & Create Jobs. The new laws include the Hire a Veteran Tax Credit; businesses can receive a tax credit for hiring and employing a qualified veteran, equal to 10% of the total amount of wages paid during their first full year of employment. Another new law is the Homeless Veteran Assistance Fund, to assist homeless veterans with housing and housing-related expenses. Lawmakers also passed a law to protect Minors from Identity Theft, to protect people living in Adult Homes by performing criminal background checks on prospective staff.
