NEWS FRIDAY 12-28-12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state senate will be operating under a bipartisan coalition in the New Year.\u00a0 State senator Tom Libous of Binghamton told WCDO News that he feels that the senate will have a productive year:<\/p>\n<p>(Libous)<\/p>\n<p>The new session will begin following the governor\u2019s annual State of the State Address, which will be held in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center on January 9<sup>th<\/sup> at 1:30 PM.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>State troopers in Binghamton arrested\u00a040-year-old <strong>James Kennerup <\/strong>of Kirkwood and\u00a042-year-old <strong>Terry McNerney<\/strong> of Windsor, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Needle.\u00a0 The arrests resulted from a suspicious vehicle parked on Fairview Drive in Windsor.\u00a0 Troopers reported that McNerney had an outstanding warrant from the City of Elmira and Kennerup had and outstanding warrant from the Broome County Sheriff Department.\u00a0 Both were issued Appearance Tickets returnable to the Town of Windsor Court on January 16<sup>th, <\/sup>McNerney was turned over to the City of Elmira Police and Kennerup was turned over to the Broome County Sheriff Department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>State police will remain out in full force for New Year\u2019s Eve &amp; New Year\u2019s Day holidays.\u00a0 Troopers will be looking for drunk &amp; aggressive drivers, drivers using electronic equipment &amp; they will be looking for seat belt compliance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Winter storm \u201cEuclid\u201d caused little damage to NYSEG\u2019s electricity delivery systems across 20,000 square miles.\u00a0 The storm was responsible for approximately 2,600 service interruptions in the NYSEG service area, due mainly to gusty winds and ice, more than 300 line and tree crews were ready to responded quickly to power outages due to any Downed trees or power lines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Crews have spent hours cleaning up route 17 near Apalachin this morning; following an early morning flip of a tractor-trailer carrying potatoes.\u00a0 The accident occurred at around 2:40 AM William May of Gillett, Pennsylvania was driving the truck and apparently fell asleep at the wheel.\u00a0 May was not injured, but was ticketed for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressconnects.com\/article\/20121228\/NEWS01\/312280013\/Tuber-toting-tractor-trailer-tumbles-off-Route-17?odyssey=tab%7Ctopnews%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE\">speed<\/a>\u00a0not reasonable and prudent and moving from a lane unsafely.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Governor Cuomo issued an Executive Order directing state agencies to increase energy efficiency in state buildings by 20% in 7 years, to try to save millions of dollars for taxpayers, create thousands of jobs &amp; reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Governor also launched \u201cBuild Smart NY,\u201d a plan to strategically implement the Executive Order by accelerating priority improvements in energy performance.\u00a0\u00a0 The administration designed Build Smart New York plan that will use state building energy data to prioritize projects that will deliver the greatest energy savings per dollar spent. The largest and most inefficient buildings will be addressed first and undergo comprehensive whole-building improvements.
