If New York voters approve Proposition number 2 on the ballot next week, their 213 lawmakers will join the digital age. If the bill is passed, their desks will have computers rather than thick stacks of bills on paper that they are supposed to read. Other states have already made such efforts, but New York\u2019s change has required a number of hurdles because the state constitution requires bills to be \u201cPrinted\u201d and \u201cUpon The Desks\u201d of lawmakers for 3 days before they can be passed. The 3 day \u201cAging\u201d period will still exist; the change is expected to save state taxpayers million s of dollars in printing costs.<\/p>\n

New York was ranked 49th<\/sup> out of 50 states, for its business tax climate by the Tax Foundation, with only New Jersey ranking worse.
