Binghamton Police will release further details later today, regarding a Christmas day shooting between Police & 2 assailants, on the memorial bridge.\u00a0 One police officer was shot, one of the assailants was shot & killed by police, the investigation is continuing.<\/p>\n

Governor Cuomo & the state legislature will be looking at tightening up gun laws, with bipartisan support expected following the December 14th<\/sup> massacre in a Connecticut elementary school.\u00a0 State Senator Tom Libous of Binghamton told WCDO news that Lawmakers will be looking at the gun control issue:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cuomo mentioned last week that he supports the closing loopholes in the state\u2019s assault-weapon ban, which contains exemptions for certain semiautomatic guns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Chenango county sheriff\u2019s office arrested 24-year-old Matthew Willis of Sherburne for possession of narcotics.\u00a0 Deputies arrested Willis after he was found to be in possession Heroin and Oxycodone Powder during a traffic stop.\u00a0 Willis was processed at the Chenango County Sheriffs Office and is scheduled to appear in the Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.<\/p>\n
