23-year-old Alan Outman of Binghamton was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in Broome County Court, for the murder of David Fillers in Vestal on New Year\u2019s Day.\u00a0 Outman pleaded guilty to 1st<\/sup> degree murder charge for killing Fillers and leaving his body in a culvert near the Old Vestal road and the route 201 flyover.<\/p>\n

20-year-old Stephen Lipka of Vestal was sentenced for 1st<\/sup> degree manslaughter in Broome County court today.\u00a0 Lipka admitted to killing his girlfriend, 16-year-old Shelby Jenkins on June 14th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Lipka will serve 18 years in state prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Oneonta police arrested 23-year-old Kaleb Vandusen of Oneonta, for allegedly helping friend escape custody.\u00a0 Vandusen was charged with 2nd<\/sup> degree obstructing governmental administration; He was released on $500 bail. Vandusen was identified by police using downtown cameras following the escape of 23-year-old Daniel Baxter of Middlefield, who had been charged with a variety of offenses following an early Saturday morning fight on Main Street. Oneonta police announced this morning that Baxter has turned himself in without incident.<\/p>\n

U.S Senator Charles Schumer warned New Yorkers today that if the \u201cfiscal cliff\u201d issue iis not dealt with, \u00a0New York dairy farmers.\u00a0 Schumer said that Congress must agree on a budget or a 1940s law will kick in on new year\u2019s day that will trigger higher costs, while farmers will lose their safety net as congress also failed to adopt a farm bill and renew the \u201cMILC\u201d program.\u00a0 Schumer reported that retail milk prices could double to about $6 a gallon early next year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
