{"id":2492,"date":"2014-03-12T01:43:49","date_gmt":"2014-03-12T05:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=2492"},"modified":"2014-03-12T13:41:27","modified_gmt":"2014-03-12T17:41:27","slug":"31213-rapidly-changing-weather-situation-alert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/31213-rapidly-changing-weather-situation-alert\/","title":{"rendered":"3\/12\/13 &#8211; Rapidly Changing Weather Situation Alert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2496\" alt=\"3-12-14L\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/3-12-14L-300x130.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"130\" \/>While original projections from the past few days have been seeing more of a mixed bag of precipitation falling in the WCDO listening area, the situation has become much more &#8220;fluid&#8221; over the past 12 hours or so. \u00a0 What exactly you will experience depends heavily on how temperatures hold in your immediate area, with\u00a0heavy variances in precipitation texture and depths depending on your location and topography .<\/p>\n<p>The southern half of the WCDO listening area may experience more of a wet slush, sleet, and rain event rather than heavy snow. \u00a0The northwest portion of the listening area may receive more of a heavy wet snowfall, while the northeast area may be back to a heavy slushy mix. \u00a0It will depend greatly on where the temperature bands establish themselves. \u00a0Where exactly these mid and upper level temperature bands of the storm end up will determine if <strong>you<\/strong> receive heavy snow or rain in your immediate area, or something more in the middle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be aware of varying road conditions<\/strong>\u00a0when travelling. \u00a0Road conditions will likely deteriorate at a very rapid pace as temperatures quickly fall Wednesday afternoon into the evening. \u00a0What may be easily traversed in one area may be radically different from conditions being experienced as little as 5 &#8211; 10 miles away, with the local profile this storm possesses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dress for the cold<\/strong>. \u00a0Windchill values are expected to drop into the -10 degree +\/- feel range for \u00a0a 30+ hour time span.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Stay tuned to <a title=\"Live Stream\" href=\"http:\/\/WCDOLive.com\" target=\"_blank\">WCDO<\/a> for updates as the situation continues to develop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a title=\"Winter Safety\" href=\"http:\/\/tritowns.com\/info\/category\/winter-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\">Think ahead and be prepared for situations that could develop with this storm<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As of 1:43 AM 3\/12\/14 the NWS forecast for the WCDO listening area stands at the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wednesday<\/strong> &#8211; Rain, snow, and sleet before 11am, then rain between 11am and 2pm, then rain and sleet after 2pm. High near 38. \u00a0<strong>Chance of precipitation is 100%<\/strong>. New snow and sleet accumulation of around <strong>2 inches<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li><strong>Wednesday Night<\/strong> &#8211; Snow and sleet, becoming all snow after 11pm. Low around 7. <strong>Wind chill values as low as -6<\/strong>. Northwest wind 15 to 18 mph. <strong>Chance of precipitation is 100%<\/strong>. New snow and sleet accumulation of around<strong> 5 inches<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday<\/strong> &#8211; A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 15. <strong>Wind chill values as low as -12<\/strong>. Northwest wind around 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
