NEWS MONDAY 2-10-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 55 year old Max Welch of Afton on charges of DWI, driving with a BAC greater than.08%, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a turn signal violation.\u00a0 Welch was charged following a traffic stop in the Village of Afton, he was found to be intoxicated, having an expired &amp; revoked driver\u2019s license, he was arraigned &amp; was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on bail and will reappear in the Village of Afton Court at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>State lawmakers will examine taxes, economic development and mental health care during the next round of budget hearings this week in Albany.\u00a0 Governor Cuomo submitted a $137.2 billion budget plan to a joint session of the legislature last month, for the fiscal year starting April 1st.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Delaware County Fair President Danny Hodges announced this year&#8217;s grandstand lineup at a recent meeting in Walton.\u00a0 Monday night will feature the Demo Derby, Tuesday\u2019s highlight will be the Fireman&#8217;s Parade, Wednesday will be the NYTPA modified truck and tractor Pulls, Friday will feature the 2nd installment of the Demolition Derby, and Country Music act Easton Corbin will headline, with &#8220;The Voice&#8221; winner, Danielle Bradbury opening.\u00a0 Tickets for all of these events will go on sale in the early spring.\u00a0 The 2014 Fair will be held on August 11-16.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>The Chenango County Sheriff&#8217;s department arrested 31-year-old Aaron McEligot of Norwich for 2nd degree Aggravated Harassment.\u00a0\u00a0 McEligot was charged on an arrest warrant was forwarded by Town of North Norwich Court; he was located in North Norwich and was taken into custody without incident.\u00a0 McEligot was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court, and will reappear in the Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>A 20-year-old bill to make it easier for adoptees over the age of 18 to get their original birth records is up again in the state Legislature. Supporters of the Bill of Adoptee Rights argue that information from unsealed birth records is vital to the medical and mental health of adoptees, while opponents claim easing disclosure rules could violate a biological parent\u2019s privacy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Now that the Federal farm Bill has been passed, the agricultural community can proceed to thrive in New York State with a definite plan in place, and federal money coming to fund programs.\u00a0 Chenango County Farm Bureau director Bradd Vickers said that the bill covers a lot more than most people think:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Bradd Vickers 2-10-14)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>President Obama signed the farm bill last week; it took congress more than 2 years to reach an agreement on the 5-year plan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Governor Cuomo\u2019s state budget proposal includes an additional $3.2 million for personnel costs related to the SAFE Act.\u00a0 State police Superintendent Joseph D\u2019Amico said the money will go toward hiring civilian employees to help with administrative duties related to the gun laws, including the processing of assault-weapon registrations and maintaining records. The budget also includes about $27.7 million for information technology costs, including the creation of a statewide database for background checks on ammunition purchases.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>The state Republican convention this year will be held in Westchester County. The convention will be held on May 14th\u00a0 &amp; 15th at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook, No Republican has formally declared for the 2014 governor\u2019s race, though the Westchester County executive Rob Astorino opened an exploratory fundraising committee last week.
