NEWS WEDNESDAY 1-29-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Police arrested 4 people in connection with a home invasion burglary at 16 Bradley Hill Road in the Town of Oxford, in the early morning hours of December 30<sup>th<\/sup> 2013.\u00a0 Charged were 31-year-old COREY CLARK of Norwich, 35-year-old MARK ALEMAR of Guilford, 25-year-old JUSTIN TOWNSEND of Bainbridge, and 25-year-old JAYSON VANVALKENBURG of New Berlin, on a variety of charges including 1<sup>st<\/sup> degree burglary &amp; unlawful imprisonment.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All four were arraigned and are currently incarcerated in the Chenango County Jail awaiting future court appearances.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">The Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office received a complaint of robbery at gunpoint Saturday in the Town of New Berlin.\u00a0 The victim reported being in the backseat of a parked passenger vehicle when a male allegedly approached the vehicle and pointed a shotgun in his face while demanding money. After throwing money out of the window, a female allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded more money. The victim escaped and called 911. The Sheriff\u2019s Office recovered several hundred dollars in cash from the road and the handgun, which was later determined to be a BB Gun.\u00a0 The Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested 27 year old Raymond Sittery of Norwich, 18 year old Lacey-Jane Zinkhan of Norwich and 26 year old Marissa Deforest, for 2<\/span><sup style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">nd<\/sup><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> degree Robbery, all were arraigned &amp; were remanded to the Chenango County jail, the investigation is continuing.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Plans for a new state university school of Pharmacy in Broome County has been fast-tracked, through the efforts of State Senator Tom Libous &amp; Governor Cuomo.\u00a0 Libous told WCDO News how that they cut red tape to get this 60 million dollar project started:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Libous 1-29-14)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The school will have about 240 students initially, and dozens of professors &amp; support staff once it is open.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Otsego County Sheriff&#8217;s Department arrested 34-year-old Keith Blush of Milford, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child.\u00a0\u00a0 Blush is accused of taping an 8-year-old boy\u2019s mouth shut and taping his arms behind his back.\u00a0 Blush faces action in Milford Town Court on February 11th.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The Chenango County Sheriff&#8217;s Department arrested Joseph Collins of Norwich for 2nd degree Harassment.\u00a0 Collins was charged following an investigation into a domestic dispute where Collins allegedly struck the victim in the face, he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and was released on his own recognizance, Collins is to reappear in court on a later date.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Congressman Chris Gibson announced that the House of Representatives has passed the Farm Bill.\u00a0 \u00a0Gibson said that the passing of the farm bill follows the passing in the House of a federal budget plan:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Gibson 1-29-14)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Farm Bill contains a number of provisions authored and supported by Congressman Gibson that will benefit New York farmers &amp; food pantries; it also sets agriculture policy for the next 5 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>A joint meeting of the Otsego County Conservation Association and the League of Women Voters of the Cooperstown Area will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. today, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 25 Church Street in Cooperstown.\u00a0 Otsego County Solid Waste and Planning Department director Karen Sullivan will discuss the actions taken by the County in dissolving its contract with MOSA.
