NEWS TUESDAY 11-12-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Joint Landowners Coalition of New York announced that they have completed their complaint against New York for its failure to issue the document governing hydraulic fracturing.\u00a0 Joint Landowerns Coalition President Dan Fitzsimmons comments:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Dan Fitzsimmons 11-12-13)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The complaint alleges that the State has imposed an illegal moratorium, has failed to comply with the provisions of Environmental Quality review, has deprived landowners of due process &amp; it also seeks to compel the State to complete their final Study in an Article 78 proceeding.\u00a0\u00a0 More information is available at JLCNY.org.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Governor Cuomo said a Veterans and Military Families Summit will be held next month in Albany to continue the state&#8217;s work to support veterans and the military community. More details regarding the Summit will be released soon, including how veterans and their families can participate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Governor Cuomo announced the beginning of a promotional effort by the State Division of Veterans\u2019 Affairs to highlight a $74 million tax credit encouraging employers to hire New York\u2019s post-9\/11 veterans who are currently not employed. Nationwide, post-9\/11 veterans have an unemployment rate of 10%.\u00a0 The state Division of Veterans\u2019 Affairs will send informational mailings about the tax credit to organizations committed to hiring veterans. VanBuren will appear in Oneonta City Court at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The New York State Office of General Services announced that surplus vehicle and highway equipment auctions have been scheduled in Binghamton on Wednesday, November 20<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; in Sidney on Thursday, November 21<sup>st<\/sup>.\u00a0\u00a0 Information on specific items and terms of sale, are available at ogs.ny.gov.\u00a0 The first area auction is Wednesday, November 20th at 9:30 AM at the State DOT facility at 241 Colesville Road in Binghamton, the Sidney event will be on Thursday, November 21st at 9:30 AM at the State Police Troop C Headquarters on State Route 7.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>A national analysis of winter heating costs by the AARP Public Policy Institute shows regional bills expected to rise 13 percent or more. The organization also said New Yorkers pay the highest electric bills in the continental U.S., 60 percent above the national average. It says those rates are also likely to increase. The Home Energy Assistance Program can provide $400 or more. Eligibility depends on income.
