The Sidney American Legion Post# 183 is sponsoring a tribute-gala & fundraiser for the Sidney Fire Department Saturday at 1:00 PM, at 22 Union Street in Sidney.\u00a0 Legion Spokesman Larry Halbert explains:<\/p>\n

Halbert said that Auction items can be dropped off at the legion today or tomorrow morning, there will be a chicken barbecue, Chinese auction and entertainment, more information is available at 237-4762 or 563-8031.<\/p>\n

Local organizers today announced an inaugural 5K run\/walk\u00a0through the City of Norwich to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in\u00a0their mission of funding childhood cancer research. The 5K run\/walk will be held tomorrow with the start and end at East Park, in the City of Norwich at 9 am.<\/p>\n

Approximately $150,000 has\u00a0been raised locally to support childhood cancer research. All of the money raised for any of these events goes to the St. Baldrick’s\u00a0Foundation to fund childhood cancer research.<\/p>\n

A Benefit will be held this Sunday for the Donald Alger Family of Sidney center, at Angus & Ale at 66 Main Street in Sidney.\u00a0 The event will run from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm, a$5.00 Donation is requested at the door.\u00a0 The Alger family was recently involved in a head-on car accident, with all 5 members injured. Money raised will assist in the family\u2019s medical & rehabilitation bills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The National\u00a0Baseball Hall of Fame\u00a0and Museum will present the Jackie Robinson movie \u201c42\u201d at\u00a07:00 tonight as the opening event of the Baseball Film Festival. The film will be shown in the Museum\u2019s Grandstand Theater. Tickets are free but limited and must be reserved at 547-0397\u00a0from\u00a09 a.m.\u00a0to 5 p.m. today.<\/p>\n
