New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Thursday announced a settlement with 211 home improvement contractors for violating the state\u2019s Home Improvement Contracts Law. The contractors have signed an agreement to end their unlawful conduct and will pay penalties and fines, after an investigation by the Attorney General revealed widespread violations of the law, including failure to provide written contracts or honor the most basic terms of consumers\u2019 work agreements.\u00a0 If consumers feel they have been victimized, they are urged to contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Helpline: 1-800-771-7755.<\/p>\n

Today is the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming September\u00a0primary elections, and registration can be performed online.\u00a0 DMV officials stated that more than 200,000 New Yorkers have used the state\u2019s\u00a0online \u201cMyDMV\u201d since it was brought online last year, Motorists who wish to vote in the September primaries can register at dmv.ny.gov.<\/p>\n
