State police responded to the report of an accident in the town of Deposit early Saturday morning.\u00a0 52-year-old Gerald Kamp of Deposit drove his Mercedes Benz off of airport road & into a tree, at about 6:00 AM Saturday, when he failed to make a sharp left curve in the road.\u00a0 Kamp was pronounced dead at the scene, the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

43-year-old Darren Steele of Harpursville has been charged with 3rd degree assault, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, 2nd degree harassment & 3rd degree burglary following a domestic depute in Johnson City.\u00a0 Police accuse Steele of hitting his wife and another woman who tried to intervene; he was apprehended after he returned to the area a short time later.\u00a0 Steele was arraigned and was sent to the Broome County jail pending future court action.<\/p>\n

Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 32-year-old Joshua Faulkner, of the Town of Tompkins Friday, on an arrest warrant issued by Town of Tompkins court.\u00a0 The charges resulted from a domestic incident which occurred at a residence on Dryden Road in the Town of Tompkins on July 20th Faulkner is charged with 1st degree Burglary, 4th degree Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Petty Larceny and 2nd degree Harassment.\u00a0 Faulkner was arraigned in the Town of Tompkins Court where he posted bail and was released to re-appear at a later date.<\/p>\n

Governor Cuomo announced a new initiative to encourage individuals who owe significant back taxes to pay their bills.\u00a0 A New York driver\u2019s license can be suspended when a taxpayer\u2019s past-due tax liability exceeds $10,000.\u00a0 The Tax Department is sending the first round of 16,000 suspension notices to delinquent taxpayers, who have 60 days to pay up, if they fail to, the DMV will send a second letter providing an additional 15 days to respond. New York is following the federal government in dropping the requirement that ATM\u2019s have posted signs disclosing bank fees. The measure was signed last week by Governor Cuomo and effective immediately.
