The Chenango county sheriffs department investigated a reported shooting Thursday afternoon on county route 7 in McDonough.\u00a0 47-year-old Connie Hendrickson of Greene was charged with 2 counts each of attempted assault, reckless endangerment and\u00a0menacing, for allegedly shooting at 2 people and a vehicle.\u00a0 Hendrickson was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango county jail on $20,000 bail.\u00a0 Also arrested at the scene, 45-year-old Glenn O\u2019Connor of Greene for criminal possession of a weapon, he was arraigned & was sent to the Chenango county jail on $5,000 bail.\u00a0 Deputies also charged 28-year-old Kimberly Haughton of Greene with criminal possession of a controlled substance, for possessing meth; she will appear in McDonough town court at a later date.\u00a0 The sheriff\u2019s department said that the investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.<\/p>\n

Governor Cuomo today announced the signing of legislation\u00a0that will require birthing facilities to screen newborns for congenital heart defects through a pulse-ox screening.\u00a0\u00a0 Heart defects are present in\u00a0nearly 1% of live births each year, and is the leading cause of\u00a0infant death, according to the federal Centers for\u00a0Disease Control and Prevention. Adding this screening to the required list of examinations has the potential to save more newborn lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
