The 2nd Annual Afton Harvest Festival today through Sunday at the Afton Fairgrounds, Spokesman Jason Wicks explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wicks said that there will also be Tethered Hot Air Balloon rides, Go Kart racing, a corn-hole tournament, Chainsaw Carving and a Pie Eating Contest, activities will be until 10:00 PM tonight, Saturday 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM & Sunday 11:00 to 9:00 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 3rd Annual Down Home Fall Festival will be held Sunday from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM in at Baker Street Park in Sidney Center, organizer Mike Sellitti explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Alec Pitel Memorial Sprintin’ for Spartans 5K Run\/Walk will be held this Sunday at 10:00 AM, starting at the Unatego Central School, the event is named after Alec Pitel, to raise money for 2 organizations, Spokesperson Judy Pitel told WCDO news how the event came about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 6th annual Oxtoberfest will be held from 10 am. to 4 pm., Saturday, at Lafayette Park in Oxford. The free event will include crafters, a variety of food trucks, music, entertainment, and a kid-zone with various activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Hochul & the State DEC announced a statewide burn ban in effect due to increased fire risk and continued dry conditions. The ban will be in effect until October 15th and will be re-evaluated prior to expiration. New Yorkers can help by complying with the prohibition on outdoor fires and by continuing to conserve water whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former corrections officer David Ferrone pleaded guilty to tampering with physical evidence and will receive a 3-year conditional discharge when sentenced in December. Ferrone is the 5th officers to plead guilty in connection with the Messiah Nantwi death at Mid State Correctional facility in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
