The Mayor of the Village of Sherburne is requesting a voluntary evacuation of the south end of the village due to flash flooding. Streets include Chapel, South Main and adjoining streets, it includes Sherburne Senior Housing.\u00a0 A shelter is being set up at Sherburne-Earlville Elementary School, with 2\u00a0 buses being sent to Sherburne Senior Housing to provide transportation for residents. Those who need assistance should\u00a0 call the Sherburne Fire Department at 674-2204.\u00a0 also, Prentice Street in the city of Norwich is closed due to flooding, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, a minor mudslide has been reported at Prospect mountain near Mygatt street in Binghamton where construction has been continuing on the I-86 project.<\/p>\n

There will be a lasagna dinner for the benefit of Christine Eldred at the Morris Fire Station tomorrow, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with take-outs available at 4:30 PM.\u00a0 Fire destroyed Christine\u2019s home in May and her friends have organized this fundraising dinner to assist her.\u00a0 In addition to dinner, there will be a silent auction, raffle and musical entertainment.<\/p>\n
