Governor Cuomo will debate Democratic Party Challenger, actress Cynthia Nixon in a debate at Hofstra University in Nassau County this evening. The debate will begin at 7:00 PM, Nixon trails Cuomo in the polls by a large margin, and this is the only debate scheduled between the 2 before the September 13th primary. The Winner will face Republican Marcus Molinaro, who also trails Cuomo by a large margin in recent polls.

State Police arrested 49 year old Christine Pecoraro of Oneonta for Aggravated DWI with a B.A.C of .28%, following an accident on State Route 357 in Franklin. Troopers found a vehicle in the lawn of a residence, after an investigation, Pecoraro was arrested & was arraigned in the town of Davenport Court where she was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. Her next court appearance is September 27th.

Governor Cuomo announced a joint effort by state agencies to crack down on underage drinking on college campuses and in college towns as the fall semester begins. The State Liquor Authority and the State DMV, working with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct statewide sweeps of locations holding liquor licenses, including bars, restaurants, liquor stores and grocery stores, looking for fake IDs and illegal sales to minors. The combined enforcement effort will begin immediately, Persons under the age of 21 found to be using fake IDs or false documents with the intent of purchasing alcohol can be arrested and have their license revoked for a minimum of 90 days or up to one year. Businesses charged by the State Liquor Authority with underage sales face civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, and repeat offenders also face potential suspension or revocation of their liquor licenses.

The Water System Staff in the Mount Upton Water District was notified Tuesday afternoon of a loss of pressure, which may increase the risk of contamination. The Health Department is advising district residents to boil water before drinking or using for food preparation. The repair has been made, and the Water District expects that the Boil Water notice could be cancelled later today after testing.

State Police arrested 32 Year Old Brent Fallon of Endwell for Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, following an explosion & fully engulfed house fire on Wayne Street Sunday. Broome County fire investigators and State Police revealed that the basement had precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Fallon was arrested and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the town Union Court on September 4th.
