State Police were dispatched Tuesday morning at about 5:40 AM, to a report of a tractor trailer rollover on I-88 east at exit 9 in the town of Sidney. An investigation revealed that an Old Dominion Freight Line tractor trailer with a rear tandem trailer overturned. The driver, a 38-year-old male of Albany, was not injured. The right lane was shut down and reopened around 8:00 AM.

State Police were dispatched Friday to Huckleberry Hill Road in the town of Middletown for a report of a missing 79-year-old woman with dementia. Numerous troopers, State Police K9, State Forest Rangers, Fire and EMS responded to the area, plus a State Police drone was utilized in assisting with the search. The 79-year-old woman was located in a heavily wooded area off Huckleberry Hill Road and sustained minor injuries. She was turned over to EMS and transported to Margaretville Hospital for further evaluation.

The Chenango Arts Council announced that Auditions will be held soon for “Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap”, to be performed October 8th, at the Martin W. Kappel Theater. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Austin DeMuth of Guilford following a vehicle pursuit Monday afternoon with a motorcycle, from the Town of Smithville & into Cortland County & Broome County. DeMuth was taken into custody, following a pursuit on foot in Whitney Point, he was transported to Wilson Hospital with minor injuries, & he was charged with Unlawful fleeing, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest and numerous traffic violations. DeMuth also had a warrant out of the Town of Norwich Court, he was arraigned in the City of Norwich Court and was remanded with no bail and is to return to court on a later date.

State Police arrested 3 Binghamton men for attempted murder in connection with a shooting in West Corners in July. Arrested were Keith Harris, Alex Shoga & Tavin Wilson, they were arraigned at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries on July 25 in the town of Union.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation that makes imitation weapons easily identifiable, allowing law enforcement to identify a device as fake when assessing threats. The law also said that permissible imitation weapons must be easily identifiable & must be colored white, or several bright colors, or be made of transparent or translucent materials.

U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $5.4 Million dollars in federal funding for 3 Central New York and Southern Tier airports. Greater Binghamton/Link Field will get about 2.2 Million Dollars to reconstruct airfield guidance signs and to reconstruct or replace the airport lighting vault.

The Susquehanna SPCA will host area legislators and representatives from the New York State Animal Protection Federation and animal shelters from throughout the region, during a press conference later this morning in support of the Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill, which has already passed both houses of the New York State Legislature, Susquehanna SPCA Executive Director Stacie Haynes explains:

Haynes said that every year, thousands of puppies from out of state puppy mills are sold to unassuming consumers at astronomical prices. The dogs are bred in factory like facilities, and are physically, mentally, and medically compromised puppies sold at retail outlets, the bill has not yet been signed by Governor Hochul.
