State Police at Oneonta arrested 20 year old Christopher Becker of Unadilla for Criminal Mischief and Menacing, after a trooper responded to a report of a man who broke windows at the Betty Beavers Gas Station in the town of Otego. Becker allegedly broke windows of the store and threatened the owner of the gas station with a golf club. He was arrested on scene by a trooper and was transported to Otsego County Central Arraignment and Processing.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 46 year old Seth Wolle of Schenevus, for 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Wolle is accused of performing a lewd act in the presence of minors, he was sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at a later date. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the family.

After 2 years of extraordinary volatility in state finances, the State Fiscal Year Budget projects fiscal stability for the next 5 years according to the State Budget Office and includes plans to bolster rainy day reserves significantly. 51 past-inducted Hall of Fame members are expected to return to Cooperstown July 22nd through the 25th, to celebrate the induction of the Hall of Fame Class of 2022. This Year’s inductees Jim Kaat, Tony Oliva and David Ortiz are scheduled to be a part of Hall of Fame Weekend, The Class of 2022 also includes posthumous electees Bud Fowler, Gil Hodges, Minnie Miñoso and Buck O’Neil, all will be inducted on Sunday, July 24 1:30 PM at the Clark Sports Center, the ceremony will air live on MLB Network.

During the 4th of July holiday, State Police in Troop “C” removed 7 impaired motorists off the roadways. State Police at Norwich arrested 50 year old Shaney Stevens of Coventry for Driving While Intoxicated, following the investigation of a vehicle that struck a telephone pole and the driver left the scene. Stevens had been driving the vehicle and she lost control and struck the pole. Stevens was arrested & was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Coventry Town Court on August 24th.

A.M. NEWS Wednesday 7-6-22

State Police arrested 57 year old Tamara Tophoven and 43 year old Rebecca Tophoven of Edmeston for 4 counts of Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance. A trooper was dispatched to check on the welfare of animals in a trailer on Taylor Hill Road in the Town of Edmeston, several dogs and cats were living inside an abandoned trailer in squalor, with minimal ventilation, no water and without proper care. The trooper contacted the Susquehanna SPCA in Cooperstown, the animals were voluntarily surrendered to the SPCA to receive care. Both women were issued appearance tickets to the Edmeston Town Court and are scheduled to appear on July 18th.

A 7th meeting of the Norwich DRI Local Planning Committee will be held virtually today at 3:00 PM. The purpose of this meeting is to finalize the slate of projects to be included in Norwich’s Strategic Investment Plan, the meeting is open to all members of the public, with time reserved at the end of the meeting for public comment. The meeting will be carried through ZOOM, the links can be found on the WCDO Facebook Page.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that starting today, applications will be accepted for $343 million in federal funding that will directly benefit child care providers and continue to help stabilize the industry. The New York State Office of Children and Family Services is administering the funds. Applications are available at my.ny.gov.
