The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49 year old April Hillier of Davenport, following a traffic stop in the Town of Oneonta on July 23rd. Hillier was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, speeding & other charges, she was found to be operating a motor vehicle on a public highway while intoxicated, with a suspended Driver’s License. Hillier was arrested and held at the Otsego County Jail pending arraignment; due to a refusal to submit to a chemical test.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced federal legislation to combat the rise of “ghost guns,” which are untraceable firearms assembled from components bought online or made by 3D printers:

Gillibrand said that New York State Police seized 85 percent more ghost guns in 2022 than they did in 2021.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42 year old Beau Holloway of Texas following a domestic dispute. Holloway was charged with 3rd degree Assault following an investigation into a physical domestic dispute that occurred in the Town of Hartwick, Holloway was issued an appearance ticket for a later date.

Afton residents and business owners John & Judy Hinman purchased the land & the Carriage house, at the site of the former Silo Restaurant in Greene, they told WCDO news about their upcoming “Sneak Peak” at the site:

3 local bands will perform at the Sneak Peak on August 5th, The Hinman’s said that the long distance plan is to have many of the events that were previously held at the Silo Restaurant, at the New Silo Retreat.

Improvements & preparations are underway at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Walton, August 14th to the 19th, Spokesman Jason Craig said that attendance has been increasing post-COVID:

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred on July 17th at the Mirabito Gas Station at Old Route 17 in Damascus. The suspect arrived in an white four door sedan, possibly a BMW. The suspect used a sledgehammer to smash the front door and make entry. Packs and cartons of cigarettes were stolen from the location and the suspect fled with the proceeds and the sledgehammer. Anyone with information should call 607-778-6500

Federal funding will be going to the Chenango Health Network, they will receive $60,000 to help the organization to further its comprehensive approach to substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment. The Money is coming from the US Department of Heath & Human Services.

The State Department of Labor released preliminary local area unemployment rates for June. The State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held constant at 3.9% in June, locally Chenango County had 2.8% unemployment, Delaware County had 3.6% and Otsego County had 3.3% in June.

STATE POLICE at Troop C reported that 17 year old Jason Babcock of Colesville has been located and returned home. Babcock left his residence on Colesville Road on July 18 on his bicycle.
