The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the Town of North Norwich Monday that resulted in the arrest of four individuals for drug charges. Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office executed a no-knock search warrant at 113 Memory Lane in the Town of North Norwich, Deputies and Detectives entered the residence and located Matthew Mason, Christopher Fuller, Samantha Savianeso, and Thomas Knickerbocker, they located Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Heroin, packaging materials, scales, hundreds of dollars in cash, and other materials indicative of the sale and distribution of drugs. Mason, Fuller, Savianeso, and Knickerbocker were transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Mason was processed and arraigned in Centralized Arraignment where he was held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail until he can be seen in Chenango County Court, the rest were released in their own recognizance.

Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar welcomed K9 Cash and his partner and handler, Deputy Chuck Louden today, they recently completed an extensive, 10-week, 450-hour K9 handler training at Cedar Creek Kennels in Illinois and have concluded their final training and state certification in our community this week. Later this month, Broome County residents will begin to see Cash be out in the community as a member of the Road Patrol division. K9 Cash is a male German Shepherd just under two years old. He and his partner Deputy Louden have been trained and certified in tracking, handler protection, locating individuals, explosives detection and other skills needed for law enforcement K9 units

The Chenango County Historical Society will again participate in the semi-annual state-wide festivities known as Path Through History weekend on June 16. As part of the celebration, the museum is hosting special open hours from 10 am. to 4 pm. that day. Historical Society Executive director Jessica Moquin explains:

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced her bipartisan legislation to renew the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Affordable Connectivity Program, that provides financial assistance to low-income households to help them afford high-speed internet:

The Secure and Affordable Broadband Extension Act would provide eligible households with a monthly discount of up to $30 per month off the cost of internet service.

28 year old Marissa Peck of Andes appeared in Delaware County Court Monday and has been sentenced for her conviction of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Peck pleaded guilty, She admitted to possessing a narcotic drug with the intention of selling it in the Village of Delhi on March 13, 2024. Judge Hubbard sentenced her to 5 years in state prison, to be followed by 2 years of post-release supervision.
