The State Health Department reported that hundreds of people are still testing positive at hospitals each day, from the Coronavirus.  Research by the Health Department & select Hospitals showed that 80% of people testing positive were 51 years old and over, predominantly from downstate, who were not employed and have been isolating at home since the COVID 19 outbreak in March.  A new hotspot was also discovered, which centered on people working in greenhouses in Oneida & Madison Counties, and those investigations are continuing.  The State Health Department reported that hospitalizations from the Coronavirus is still hovering around 9600 statewide, another 232 people died from the virus Tuesday, the state death toll is now 19,877.

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced a $10.7 million grant award to the Broome County Department of Public Transportation as part of the CARES Act. BC Transit will use the grant funds for operating, preventive maintenance and administrative expenses, which are necessary to maintain service during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will meet by Webcast at 10:30 this morning, to consider a request filed by Baron Winds to build 33 wind turbines in Steuben County.  The Board recently re-approved plans for wind turbines in the towns of Sanford & Windsor; they have not yet acted on plans for the High Bridge Wind farms project in Guilford.  The public can listen to today’s session at dps.ny.gov/Webcasts.
