Governor Cuomo announced today the loosening of restrictions regarding the New York Mets & New York Yankees In their stadiums starting May 19th, where people vaccinated against COVID can sit in adjacent seats at a game, and those who are not will have to maintain social distancing in the ball parks.  Also, Broadway Theater will re-open in September and will be allowed 100% capacity when they re-open, as the COVID positivity rates & Hospitalizations go down.

WCDO Reached out to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to see if the new guidelines will also apply to NYSEG Stadium, they had not yet been notified if the Major League Ballpark Guidelines will be allowed in the Minor League Ballparks.

The state continues to see favorable statistics regarding COVID 19, as Tuesday’s statewide testing showed a positivity rate of 1.49%, the lowest numbers since last October.  The number of decreased by more than 100 to 2658, the number in ICU Beds went down by 15 to 610, and the number of Patients on Ventilators went down slightly to 379.  There were 31 deaths attributed to the COVID virus Tuesday in New York State.

Chenango County Public Health reported 13 new COVID cases today; their total is 3322 since the pandemic began.  They have 93 active cases, 5 hospitalized & 451 quarantined, and they have had 3055 recoveries & 74 deaths.

Delaware County Public Health reported 4 new COVID cases Tuesday, out of 185 tested.   Delaware County reports decreases in active cases to 51, quarantines to 99 & hospitalizations to 8.

Governor Cuomo signed an extension of the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 and the COVID-19 Emergency Protect Our Small Businesses Act. The legislation extends protections prohibiting residential and commercial evictions, foreclosure proceedings, credit discrimination and negative credit reporting related to the COVID-19 pandemic until August 31st.

State Police found a missing toddler who was allegedly abducted in Minnesota after spotting the suspect’s vehicle on the Thruway Tuesday.   27-year-old Amina Mohamed of Minneapolis, is accused of kidnapping her little sister, 2-year-old Nasteha Mohamed, State police received a ‘be on the lookout’ notification for a gold Chevrolet Equinox, they were stopped near in the town of Elbridge, the child appeared to be in good health & will be in the care of Onondaga County Child Protective Services until she can be safely returned to her mother.   Amina Mohamed was taken into custody, the investigation is ongoing.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that Former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has been released from a federal prison on furlough, while he awaits potential placement to home confinement.  Silver was serving his more than 6-year sentence at a federal prison in Otisville; he began serving his sentence in August on corruption charges.
