U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand slammed President Trump’s tariff tax hike, as her office has received numerous stories from constituents concerned about the return of higher inflation. Gillibrand signed on to the bipartisan Trade Review Act, calling for Congressional oversight on all proposed tariffs:

Senator Gillibrand also said that she has signed on to a letter demanding that the Trump administration immediately repeal the tariffs, however, the President has doubled down with threats to increase tariffs on China from 54% to 110%.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Branden Ward of Sangerfield for 3rd degree Assault. Ward was arrested following an investigation of an assault at the Otsego County Correctional Facility, where Ward allegedly struck another inmate which caused physical injury, he was processed and issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Middlefield Court at a later date.

Long Time Chenango County Restaurateur Gary Kurz, who for many decades operated the Silo Restaurant in Greene, passed away in his Florida home Tuesday. Kurz was 72, funeral arrangements are being organized for the funeral to be held in Greene, and will be announced shortly.

A.M. NEWS WEDNESDAY 4-9-25

54 year old Jason Burress of Bainbridge pleaded guilty to Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs in Delaware County Court Tuesday. Sidney Police conducted a traffic stop in Sidney on July 11th, 2024, a blood analysis confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in the defendant’s blood. Sentencing will be on May 6th, he will likely face 6 months in jail & will have his license revoked.

34 year old Milton Jordan-Martinez of Buchanan pleaded guilty in the Town of Deposit Court on Monday to Driving While Intoxicated, and he was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge. Jordan-Martinez was pulled over on March 15, on State Highway 17 in Deposit after State Police received a report of an erratic driver, he failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, he had a BAC of .13%. Jordan-Martinez will be required to attend a Victim Impact Panel, his license will be revoked for 6 months, he will have to install an ignition interlock device on vehicles he owns or drives, if he violates any terms or conditions of his conditional discharge, he is subject to being re-sentenced to one year in jail.
