The General Clinton Canoe Regatta will take on a drastically different form this year, with the 70-mile race being a virtual one, according to Regatta Chairman John

Harmon said that the 70 Mile Paddlers will have anytime from Friday morning, May 28 till Monday evening, May 31 to continuously complete the 70-mile course from

Cooperstown to Bainbridge, finishers will get a T shirt and get an official 70-mile finish. Entry fee will be $30 per person, there will be no awards presentations, Entries will

be open for the Virtual 70 May 1. There will be no activities at General Clinton Park this year due to the State Covid restrictions.

The Unadilla Chamber of Commerce announced that they are cancelling this year’s Carnival of Sales.  Organizers hope to bring the Carnival of sales back in July 2022.

The City of Oneonta Common Council promoted City Engineer David Mattice to City Administrator.  Mattice served as city engineer for the last 6 years, last night’s Common Council Meeting was held remotely on ZOOM.

Chenango County Public Health reported 21 new COVID cases today, they reported 109 Active Cases, 539 quarantines and 10 Hospitalized, and they have had a Total of 3125 Confirmed COVID Cases.

The Fireman’s Association of New York will have their annual Recruit New York Weekend events this Saturday & Sunday.  Many firehouses across New York State will hold virtual or in-person recruitment efforts, locally, fire Departments in Coventry, West Oneonta, Laurens, & West Laurens are participating in the recruiting effort.

A New Sienna College Poll reported that Voters by a 50-35% margin that Governor Cuomo should not immediately resign & by a 48-34% margin, they say he can continue to effectively do his job as governor.   Voters were satisfied with the way Cuomo has addressed the sexual assault allegations, by a 57-32% margin &  Voters still approve of Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic, 60-33 percent,

Delaware County Public Health reported 7 new COVID cases Tuesday, out of 343 tested, they have 109 active cases, 14 hospitalized & 227 quarantined.  Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a first dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Thursday April 29, 2021 at 97 Main St., Delhi, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.   This vaccination clinic is open to all New York state residents or people who work in New York State over the age of 18.  Registration is mandatory, at apps2.health.ny.gov,   more information or assistance getting registered is available at 832-5200.
