Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 4 individuals on drug charges. Deputies were assisted by the Delhi Police, Deputies located a quantity of Fentanyl and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle and on the persons inside the vehicle. Arrested were 25-year-old Sean Gillespie of Delhi, 27-year-old Marissa Peck of Andes, 32-year-old Shaun Carman of Delhi & 27-year-old Erin Hubbell of Margaretville, All 4 were transported to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office to await Centralized Processing Arraignment.

State Police were called to State Highway 12B in the town of Sherburne Sunday for a report of a motorcycle accident. When Troopers arrived, a dirt bike was observed in a ditch at the point of Foote Hill Road and State Highway 12B, their investigation determined that 26 year old Derek Leinbach of Sherburne, was traveling on State Highway 12B when he slid off the road into a ditch, he was pronounced dead at the scene, The investigation is ongoing.

Contraceptives will be available without a prescription in New York under an order signed by state health officials on Tuesday. The measure comes as the first over-the-counter birth control pill was made available in U.S. stores this month. The Food and Drug Administration said that the once-a-day Opill could be sold on store shelves and without a prescription. More than 25 states already allow pharmacists to provide contraceptive care.

74 year old George Sydlar of Davenport was sentenced to 30 days in jail when he appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday. A jury convicted Sydlar of Falsely Reporting an Incident to 911, for calling 911 repeatedly to falsely report that his neighbor committed a crime, Police instructed Sydlar that his complaint with the neighbor was a civil complaint & and not a criminal one. A pre-sentence investigation was conducted by the Delaware County Probation Department, Sydlar refused to cooperate, & he was sentenced to 30 days in Jail, and he was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to serve his sentence.

Delaware County District Attorney’s Office reported that Katie Ryerson was convicted of Petty Larceny, while she was employed at the Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, she stole oxycodone pills from a nursing home resident for her own personal use in June 2023. Ryerson was placed on interim probation supervision for at least one year. Part of this requires Ryerson to enroll in and complete the Delaware County Adult Treatment Court Program. If she fails to complete the program, she will be sentenced to one year in jail, she is also expected to temporarily lose her nursing license.

43 year old Misty Cintron of Sidney was convicted in Delaware County Court to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell. Cintron admitted to selling fentanyl in the Village of Sidney on December 30, 2022. and for possessing at home with intent to sell. she was arrested along with Brandon Hendricks last November, he was also convicted of similar charges in February. Cintron will be sentenced to 3 and 1/2 years in state prison, on the 1st charge, and 3 and 1/2 years in state prison, to be followed by 1 year of post-release supervision for her 2nd conviction, The sentences will run concurrently, and she will also be permitted to enroll in the Lakeview Rehabilitation program once she is transferred into state prison, Cintron was remanded back to the Delaware County Correctional Facility.

6 area Fire departments responded to a barn fire on State Highway 28 near Fly Creek Tuesday morning around 6:30 a.m. Firefighters were able to save a tool shed and all its contents, a Barn, chicken coop and a tractor were lost in the blaze.

Service arrangements for Trooper John Grassia have been set for Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in Schenectady, following the mass Trooper Grassia will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Trooper Grassia was killed in a helicopter crash recently while serving with the National Guard in Texas.
