U.S. Marshals in Henderson County, Kentucky, arrested 48 year old Joseph Titsworth of Norwich as a Fugitive from Justice, on a Warrant out of the City of Norwich. Titsworth was charged as being a Fugitive from Justice, plus 3 Counts Failure to Register as Sex Offender, Titsworth absconded from New York in 2024 and has been wanted by Norwich Police since that time. U.S. Marshals received numerous tips from the public, and they were able to locate Titsworth hiding in an elderly person’s home in Henderson County, Kentucky. Norwich Police Officers traveled to Kentucky and bring Titsworth back to Norwich, Monday evening, he was arraigned and was held without bail due to multiple, prior felony convictions.

State Police responded to a 2-vehicle crash on State Highway 28 in the town of Milford at about 6:00 AM today.  1 driver was pronounced deceased at Bassett Hospital, following the head-on crash between a Toyota and a Subaru. The investigation continues.

The Annual Recruit New York event will be held state wide on April 26 and 27th this year, where people can go to their local Fire Department’s Open House, and maybe wind up joining the Fire Department, the Emergency squad or even work in their office on paperwork. Governor Hochul & State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald updated New Yorkers on the measles cases and encouraged everyone to make sure they are up to date on vaccines. There have been 4 total cases of measles in New York State so far this year, 3 in New York City and 1 in Suffolk County. None of the cases this year are related to each other or connected to the outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico. More information is available at health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/measles.

Village of Sidney announced the results of Tuesday’s Village election for the Board of Trustees. Victor Tartaglia won one term with 65 votes, while Patricia Cristelli & Luther Higley each had 44 votes. Due to the tied votes for the 2nd Trustee Term there will be a Runoff Election held on Tuesday April 1st, in the Board room at the Civic Center at 21 Liberty Street from 12pm – 9pm. The Village of Unadilla announced that Kaleigh Barber & Crystal Lee Dimeo Johnson won seats on the Village board Tuesday.

The Chenango Blues Association announced that the 2025 NBT Bank Summer Concert Series will be on Thursdays from July 3rd to August 28th at East Park in Norwich, also the 32nd Annual Chenango Blues Fest will be held on August 15th and 16th.

State Police today announced that it issued 11,582 tickets during this year’s St. Patrick’s Day enforcement initiative. State Troopers arrested 239 people for DWI and investigated 563 crashes, which resulted in no fatalities. State wide, there were 3680 tickets issued for speeding, In Troop C, 905 tickets were issued, with 330 for speeding, 16 for DWI, 40 for violating the seat belt laws and 40 for violating the move over law.

NYSEG released a statement regarding the increased price on customers bill, they stated that an increase in supply costs combined with household usage of energy during the winter months are to blame, also, supply costs of gas and electricity are set by energy generating companies and passed-through to customers. NYSEG noted they have no control over the pricing currently.

Delaware County Public Health will hold a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats, and ferrets today from 5:00 to 6:30PM, at the Colchester Highway Department, 6292 River Road, Downsville. More information about rabies is available at Delaware County Public Health at (607) 832-5200.
