Vincent Vetromile, Brian Colaneri & Andrew Crysel appeared in Greece Town Court Tuesday, they are accused, along with an unidentified 16 year old, with formulating a terrorist plan against the Muslims of America Community known as Islamberg in Delaware County.  the 3 were arrested January 18th after police learned of the plot, the group possessed 23 firearms and 3 explosive devices, they have been charged with  3 counts of 1st-degree criminal possession of a weapon and 1 count each of 4th degree conspiracy.  The case against Crysel was waived to the grand jury. Preliminary hearings for Vetromile and Colaneri are scheduled for next week.

Governor Cuomo today announced more than $7.5 million in funding is available to enhance addiction prevention, treatment and recovery services in New York State. The funding will be awarded through a series of Requests for Applications issued by the State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.   New Yorkers struggling with an addiction can call the state’s toll-free HOPE line at-1-877-8-HOPENY.

Tonight, State Senator Fred Akshar and Broome County Executive Jason Garnar will join addiction specialists, law enforcement, teachers and families for a public forum on substance use prevention and treatment.   The forum will take place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Deposit High School Auditorium.

The Otsego County Planning Department is launching a $50,000 pilot program to assist low & moderate income farmers with home repair assistance.   The new county program is called “Farm RESTORE.”  It offers assistance to eligible active farmers with needs such as furnace repairs, window replacement, hot water heaters, flooring, electrical upgrades, accessibility modifications, and plumbing; it is administered by Otsego Rural Housing Assistance, Inc.  The deadline for applications if February 28, 2019.  The funding derives from Community Development Block Grant, More information is available at 547-4225.

A public hearing was held Tuesday night at Oneonta City hall about the Generic Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Oneonta Rail Yards project.    Another Public hearing has been scheduled for March 5th; the period for public comments has been extended to March 18th.

Southern Tier Hemp announced Tuesday that it’s buying the former Gannett printing plant in Johnson City. The company will develop, manufacture and sell hemp-based CBD oil products; they expect to hire more than 100 people over the next 3 years.  The company received state grants to assist with construction needs at the site, which is expected to be operational later this year.

The Otsego County Chamber will hold its 8th Annual Career Expo and Job Fair Today from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BOCES campus on County Route 35 in Milford.   The Job Fair and Open house is open to the public to meet with area employers for current openings & to learn about job training programs.
