Chenango County Health Department confirmed their 92nd Resident death attributed to COVID-19 infection. Chenango County reports 321 active cases, 25% of them are fully vaccinated, there are 710 quarantined, 8 hospitalized. The United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties’ campaign has reached 50% of its $50,000 goal. The campaign has been running since mid-September and donations have been coming into the United Way through employee payroll pledges and through individual mail solicitations, the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties’ campaign will conclude on December 31st, more information is available at 607-334-8815 or at unitedwaydo.org.

In light of the emergence of the Omicron variant in New York State, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced her bipartisan COVID-19 and Pandemic Response Centers of Excellence Act, to prepare for all Hospitals for health emergencies in the near and distant future.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced New York’s annual statewide holiday donation drive to benefit families in need across New York will begin tomorrow. Donations of new unwrapped toys, coats and school supplies are being sought to assist community-based organizations during the holiday giving season. The Office of General Services has set up drop-off locations across the state , local drop off points will be the Binghamton State Office Building, 44 Hawley Street, & the Homer Folks Facility, 28 Hill Street, Oneonta.

Hendricks said that they have added Apparel Impact to the Textile recycling program, in addition to the Salvation Army Collection containers, they ask that all items are dry and don’t contain mold, and they don’t have to be in wearable condition.

The State Health Department reported 2 more Omicron variant cases Tuesday, in Broome and Westchester Counties. Over 149,000 were tested for COVID with 8210 positives, for a positivity rate of 5.5%, Patient Hospitalization continue to sharply increase, they are up to 3,401, with 631 Patients in an ICU and 352 on ventilators, there were 52 deaths from COVID in hospitals & Nursing Homes Tuesday.

Delhi Police arrested 28-year-old Andrew Kreger of Delhi for 6 counts of Petty Larceny, 6 counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 6 counts of Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument and 3 counts of Forgery, follow a recent investigation. Kreger was arraigned in Delhi Town Court where he was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $25,000 secured bond.

The American Red Cross is heading into the holidays with its lowest blood supply in more than a decade at this time of year. Blood donations are desperately needed now to meet the needs of accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease.
