State Police and local law enforcement agencies throughout New York will be stepping up patrols to crack down on impaired driving during New Year’s holiday weekend. Police will be out in full force looking for intoxicated or impaired drivers, as well as speeders, aggressive drivers & they will continue to enforce the state’s “Move Over” law and they will be making sure that people obey the state seat belt laws.

Unemployed New Yorkers will begin receiving extended and expanded federal unemployment benefits, starting the week January 3rd. Unemployed New Yorkers will receive an additional $300 payment through the extended Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation and Pandemic Unemployment Compensation programs. New Yorkers currently receiving benefits do not need to call the Department of Labor to receive these extended benefits.

Starting January 1, 2021, New Yorkers can begin using sick leave benefits under the state’s Paid Sick Leave law, which secures paid sick leave for workers at medium and large businesses and paid or unpaid leave for those at small businesses, more information is available at ny.gov/programs.

Chenango County Public Health announced 31 new positive cases of COVID 19 today; they report 131 active cases with 6 hospitalizations, & 533 Active Quarantines. The Broome County Health Department had 274 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 2 days with 1 more death; they have had 175 deaths from the virus.

The New York State Division of Consumer Protection is alerting consumers about scammers taking advantage of COVID-19 vaccinations to steal personal information. Scammers are using techniques that typically arise with a major global event such as: falsely claiming to be online sellers of the vaccination; sending fake emails and texts that contain harmful links designed to steal your personal information; and using robocalls to pitch vaccination information. Governor Cuomo announced updated quarantine guidelines for New York which are consistent with the CDC guidance. Individuals exposed to COVID-19 can end their quarantine after 10 days without a testing requirement as long as no symptoms have been reported during the quarantine period, after day 10, individuals must continue monitoring for symptoms through day 14 and if any develop, they should immediately self-isolate and contact the local health department or their healthcare provider.

The state reported over 160,000 Tests Tuesday, with 11,438 positives, that was 7.14% of all tested. Hospitalization went up to 7,814, ICU Patients & those on ventilators remained the same, and there were 124 deaths.

Otsego County Department of Health reported 23 new cases of COVID 19 Tuesday. They report 17 hospitalized & 1 new death reported, brings the total number of deaths to 17.

Delaware County Public Health reported 12 new cases of COVID 19 Tuesday. They have 4 hospitalized out of 96 active cases, 276 are quarantined.
