25-year-old Joshua Underwood has notified Otsego County Court that he is planning to withdraw his guilty plea from last month, for the murder of Mark Morrison in his Oneonta Apartment at 229 Main Street on January 1st. Underwood will be assigned a new attorney & he will be back in Otsego County court in January.

Several fire departments responded Monday night to a fire in a warehouse at Don’s Dairy Supply in South Kortright. Various chemicals were stored in the building, which contributed to the intensity of the fire, 4 fire fighters & business owner Don Coager were treated for smoke inhalation, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The State Attorney General’s office & The State Department of Taxation and Finance announced the arrest of 52 year old Robert Niederriter of Kirkwood, on 6 felony charges for allegedly failing to accurately report all taxable sales and remit over $59,000 in sales tax collected at his former business, the Buffalo Head Bar & Grill in Conklin, June 2011 through 2015. Niederriter is accused of underreported total sales by $747,362.56 and failed to remit $59,789 in sales taxes. he was arraigned this morning in Windsor Town Court for 2nd degree Grand Larceny, 4 counts of Criminal Tax Fraud, & 1 count of Offering a False Instrument for Filing. Niederriter was released in his own recognizance.

State Police & Emergency crews from Sidney & Unadilla responded to a 2-car accident with injuries at Tryons Corners today. The accident occurred at around 12:00 Noon, with front-end damage reported on both vehicles, and at least 2 injuries were reported, one person was taken to Fox HOsiptal in Oneonta, another wwas taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City with non-life threatening injuries, the investigation by state police is continuing.

The State Police CNET unit arrested 6 people for allegedly operating a Methamphetamines manufacturing outfit at a home in the Town of Cortlandville Monday. Numerous components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines were discovered & were removed by the State Police hazardous materials unit, All 6 defendants were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawfully Manufacturing Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Disposal of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials; they were arraigned and were remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Department arrested 35 year old Robert Miller of Pitcher for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & 27 year old Lyndsey Cook of Pitcher for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. A search warrant was issued by Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir Jr. following an investigation into the sale and possession of Methamphetamine in Chenango County. Miller was arraigned in the Town of Pitcher Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $30,000 cash bail,

Schoharie County Sheriff’s department announced that 77 year old Carl Weaver of the Town Of Seward was found deceased in a heavily wooded area Tuesday Afternoon. Hundreds of volunteers on foot as well as helicopter & drone patrols searched for Weaver, who was reported missing after he failed to return from a hunting trip, his vehicle was found several days later. The sheriff’s department said that there was no sign of foul play, weaver was still in possession of his gun, his body was found in the town of Harpersfield in Delaware County.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged 28 year old Michael Schermerhorn of Sidney for one count of Assault and one count of Criminal Mischief, following an incident in the Delaware County Jail where a Corrections Officer was assaulted while performing a cell extraction of Schermerhorn regarding unruly behavior and failing to follow the direct orders of staff. Schermerhorn was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and returned to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail pending further court action.
