Governor Kathy Hochul was sworn in at about midnight, and a ceremony involving her family was held at about 10:00 This Morning, after meeting with State leaders this afternoon, Hochul commented on her agenda:

Hochul will be naming new Department heads & members of her staff over the next several weeks, she said that she will finish out the term of Governor Cuomo & is expected to seek re-election.

Monday’s full approval of the Pfizer COVID vaccine, led to a mandate for students within the SUNY system to get vaccinated. The mandate includes a 35-day period for students to compete their vaccine series, if students fail to complete the series, they will be de-registered from their courses. SUNY Officials are also urging all staff to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

State Police announced the line of duty death of Trooper James Monda. On Sunday, Trooper Monda was working a marine detail on the Great Sacandaga Lake, he went into the water and did not resurface, and he was located & was transported to an area Hospital where he later died. Trooper Monda entered the State Police in September 2002 and served for 18 years & is survived by his fiancée, mother and father.

The Otsego County Department of Health reported that 1 person died from COVID 19 on Saturday, they reported 83 active cases with 14 hospitalizations and 14 new cases as of yesterday. The Otsego County Department of Health encourages those who have not yet been vaccinated to get vaccinated as it is able to prevent hospitalization and death.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced that a Latham woman was arrested after striking and injuring Walton Police Officer Morgan Seamons while he was engaged in directing traffic on Friday night. Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond explains:

Deputies charged 54 year-old Gwyn Trask of Latham with DWI, Driving a vehicle with a BAC of .08% or higher, Failure to comply with a Police Officer & operating a vehicle with an open container, Officer Seamons was transported to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City with non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff Dumond added that, due to the Bail Reform laws, deputies had to release Trask:

Sheriff DuMond said that the investigation is on-going and more charges are anticipated.
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies announced the inductees for the Binghamton Baseball Shrine Induction Ceremony that will take place the evening of Saturday, September 4th at Mirabito Stadium ahead of the Rumble Ponies game against Richmond. This year’s inductees are former Binghamton players David Wright, Jay Payton & Preston Wilson, who went on to Major League Careers and former Binghamton Mets General Manager Bill Terlecky.
