The State Health Department issued an update on the Kawasaki Disease-like syndrome that has affected children with COVID 19 in the state that killed 3 young people earlier this year.  The State Health Department has investigated 240 cases of the syndrome & published a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. 1 of the findings is that the hyper-inflammatory syndrome is associated with cardiac dysfunction& the majority of the patients in the study had no documented underlying conditions.  The Research will be continuing.

The State Health Department announced that there were 534 new positive coronavirus tests statewide on Monday, bringing the total number up to 412,878.  The number of death was up to 25,126 with 8 more deaths reported Monday attributed to the virus.

Governor Cuomo announced today that New York has added 3 more states to the travel advisory; Illinois, Kentucky and Minnesota.  Governor Cuomo also added Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico to the advisory, along with 34 states.  Anyone traveling to New York from the location mentioned in the advisory must quarantine for 14 days to monitor for coronavirus symptoms.

The State Division of Consumer Protection is reminding businesses and consumers about a State law related to telemarketing activity during a declared state of emergency.  The law passed last year, makes it unlawful for any telemarketer to make an unsolicited sales call to any person under a declared state of emergency or disaster emergency, the law was amended earlier this year to include pandemics.   Any consumer who has received an unsolicited telemarketing call is encouraged to report it at donotcall.gov or by calling 888-382-1222.

Chenango County Public Health announced their latest COVID 19 Numbers today, with 194 confirmed cases, 145 Active Quarantines, 0 Hospitalizations, 7 deaths, 168 Recoveries & they have performed 15,157 Tests.

Brandon Clark appeared in Oneida County Court today & asked the judge to withdraw his guilty plea for the murder of 17-year-old Bianca Devins.   Clark will be assigned a new attorney, he had pleaded guilty to killing Devins in Utica during the weekend of the Boilermaker race in 2019 & positing pictures of the deceased teenager on social media, which led to his arrest.  Clark claimed in court that his previous attorney coerced him into pleading guilty earlier this year.

Johnson City Police have identified that person found dead in a pickup truck Friday as 27 year old Omar Terry of Johnson City.  Terry was found in a wrecked vehicle near Exit 70 of State Route 17, he had both gunshot & stab wounds, 25 year old Brandon Rose of Endicott has been charged with the murder.

The Otsego County Planning & Solid Waste Department announces the cancellation of this year’s Household Hazardous Waste Day Collection Event.  The event is anticipated to return in the fall of 2021.  Individuals with questions can call the department at 547-4225.

Village of Sidney crews will be closing Delaware Avenue from Union Street to Pearl Street West to install a new water main.  The work will begin Wednesday at 7:00 AM & they are aiming to complete the project late Friday afternoon, local residents will have access to their homes during the project.
