The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from a 14-year-old victim from the Town of Lisle regarding sexual contact by 72 year old Marshal Morehouse of Marathon. Investigators worked with Child Protective Services to establish a safety plan and safe residence for the victim while the investigation took place. Following an investigation, Morehouse turned himself and was charged with 2 counts of Sexual Abuse & Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Morehouse was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Lisle Court.

Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force collected $89,000 and cocaine after conducting an investigation into the sale of cocaine on June 14th. The task force executed a search warrant at 47 St. Charles St. in Johnson City and a financial institution, 25 grams of Cocaine, packaging, scales, cutting agents and around $89,000 were recovered, Krystal Newborn was arrested and charged with several counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia, Newborn was arraigned at Central Arraignment and released pending further court action.

Delaware County officials announced that with the heat & humidity, several public libraries will serve as cooling centers, including in Andes, Bovina, Delhi, Margaretville, Roxbury, Sidney & Walton, In observance of Juneteenth on Wednesday, some libraries may be closed. Residents are also asked to check up on elderly neighbors, avoid extreme exercising in the heat, drink plenty of water.

The Annual Nate Lull Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held on July 7th at the Ouleout Creek Golf Course in Franklin, Lull Said that there may be a spot or 2 for last minute teams:

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Nikita Kingsbury of Oneonta after she agreed to meet a confidential informant in Davenport for the purposes of selling controlled substances. Kingsbury arrived with her boyfriend, 43-year-old Lloyd Hunt, they were both taken into custody, they were in possession of Fentanyl and Suboxone at the time of their arrest. Hunt was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and was released on an appearance ticket, Kingsbury was arrested on an unrelated Bench Warrant issued by Delaware County Court for a failure to appear in Court, she was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail. Last Week, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kingsbury at the Delaware County Jail for Attempted Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, she was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44 year old Robert Collins of Sherburne for Criminal Contempt and Resisting Arrest. Collins was spotted by a deputy on the property where an order of protection was issued, Collins began to resist arrest with the Deputy and did not comply with lawful orders, he was taken into custody, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on cash bail pending action in Village of Sherburne Court at a later date.

19 year old Qualem Hernandez of Binghamton, pleaded guilty last week in Broome County Court to Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Hernandez will be sentenced to 8 years in New York State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision when he is sentenced on September 13th. On April 12th, Hernandez opened fire in the direction of individuals in the City of Binghamton. The Binghamton Police Department investigated the shooting and with the assistance of visual recording devices and Street Cameras they were able to identify and arrest Hernandez.

The Chenango County Health Department will hold a rabies Vaccination clinic for dogs, cats & ferrets today at the Coventry Highway Department, from 5:30 TO 6:30 P.M. Pre-Registration is required at 607-337-1673, a $5 Donation is suggested.
