Governor Cuomo further discussed the parameters for re-opening New York State by regions in phases; he said that 31 states & several Countries have re-opened with bad results:

The number of deaths in Nursing Homes for the Coronavirus has fluctuated since the crisis started, and after 2 months of data, the Governor’s Aide Dr. Jim Malatras commented about changes to those numbers going forward:

New York State Health Department now confirms 321,192 Coronavirus positive tests, there are still over 9600 current hospitalizations, and another 230 people died Monday, bringing the state death toll to 19,645.

Chenango County Health Department announced Tuesday that they are up to 100 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, they have 452 people quarantined, 4 hospitalized, 75 Recoveries & 4 deaths.

Delaware County Public Health received no positive lab reports for COVID-19 today, they are reporting 73 total cases of the Coronavirus, with 12 of those transferred to the patient’s home county, 49 people have recovered, 5 are recovering at home, 3 are hospitalized, 4 have died & 21 are quarantined.

Broome County Health Department announced that they now have 338 Coronavirus cases, with 4 new positives today.  They’ve had 22 deaths & 206 recoveries since the Coronavirus issue started locally in early March.

The Economic Injury Disaster Loans portal has been re-opened for AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSES ONLY as of Noon Monday.  Agri-businesses are urged to apply as soon as possible at the SBA website for these loans, which were set up through the CARES Act and are forgivable up to $10,000.  The streamlined application is available at covid19relief.sba.gov.  The EIDL loans can be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that can’t be paid because of the Coronavirus disaster’s impact.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced legislation that will address disruptions in the food supply chain caused by the coronavirus pandemic and directly connect farms to food banks & Disaster funding:

Gillibrand serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee where she has proposed the Food Bank Access to farm Fresh Produce Act, after she heard reports that have millions of pounds of produce have been left to rot in fields & tons of milk have been dumped, while, food banks across the country are facing unprecedented demand, as millions of newly unemployed Americans now face food insecurity while farmers have watched their markets dry up.

American Red Cross Blood Drive is being held in Afton today, from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at 34 Spring Street.  Appointments are requested at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-redcross, all blood types are needed.

The Afton Village board announced that their next village board meeting will be held on Monday May 11th at 7:00 PM.  Due to the Coronavirus, the monthly meeting will be held through zoom, & all information will be placed on the Town of Afton website.
