54 year old Casey Callahan accepted a plea deal in Otsego County Court Monday, in connection the murder of his wife Elizabeth in Pennsylvania in 2000, by running her over with his truck. Callahan was due for a retrial, he was previously convicted of murdering his wife, the original guilty plea was overturned last year, By accepting the plea, Callahan avoids a 2nd trial. The case was tried in Otsego County originally as prosecutors said that Callahan hatched the scheme to murder his wife while living in the County, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and he will serve a jail sentence of 4 to 12 years.

37 year Shelly Ann Young of Laurens pleaded guilty in Otsego County Court Monday to performing sexual acts a 15 year old Boy. Young was charged with 2nd-degree rape as well as dissemination of indecent material to a minor.

The State Senate and Assembly passed a bill Monday to extend the suspension of residential and commercial evictions through the end of August. Governor Cuomo signed the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 & The COVID-19 Emergency Protect Our Small Businesses Act of 2021 were signed to protect residents & small businesses from being evicted while experiencing pandemic related financial hardship. The moratorium was initially set to expire on May 1st, the bill has been sent to Cuomo for his signature.

The State Health Department continues to see improving numbers relating to the COVID 19 pandemic. Over 96,000 people were tested Monday with 2173 positive tests, or 2.25%, the rolling 7 day average is down to 1.76%. Patient hospitalizations are 2573, the number in ICU beds was 625, & the number on Ventilators was 381. The number of COVID deaths was 39.

Chenango County Public Health reported another 11 COVID 19 cases today, bringing their total to 3309. The number of active cases is 96; the total hospitalized is 5, and 424 are Quarantined.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a car in the ditch on State Highway 357, near Overlook Drive, in the Town of Franklin on Sunday April 25th. 26-year-old Katie Cronk of Grand Gorge drifted off the right side of the roadway and drove into a ditch, her driving privileges were suspended, she was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle among other similar charges she was released & will appear in the Town of Franklin Court at a later date.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies regular Baseball season gets underway Today on the road against Akron, their home opener at NYSEG Stadium on May 11th against the Altoona Curve, Play by Play announcer Jacob Wilkins told WCDO News that the players are ready to compete again after the pandemic stopped Minor League Baseball & Binghamton fans are happy to have the team back in action in 2021:

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies recently observed a vehicle with a brake light out, Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 56-year-old Gladys Smith of Delhi. A routine driver’s license inquiry revealed that Smith’s New York State driving privileges were suspended for failure to answer previous traffic summonses in the Town of Davenport and Town of Liberty Courts. Smith was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle & having a defective brake light. Smith was directed to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on a later date to answer the charges.

The Laurens Central School District will hold a public budget hearing at the school & through ZOOM, at 7:00 PM tonight. Information about the ZOOM link is on the Laurens school website, more information is available at 432-2050. Voting on the budget will be on May 18th.

Delaware County Public Health reported 10 new COVID cases out of 87 tests on Saturday, Sunday & Monday. The County has 64 Active Cases, 8 Hospitalized & 96 Quarantined.

Due to a water main issue to the Sidney High School, students in grade 7-12 will transition to a remote learning day today. Students that are track B and C will transition to a live remote learning day. Students that are track A, will follow their normal virtual day, On Wednesday, Sidney will resume our normal schedule
