State Police are currently recruiting to add to their ranks, State Trooper Lauren Warner is the recruitment Officer at Troop C in Sidney, she told WCDO News about the application process:

Trooper Warner said that applicants must be a US Citizen, ages 20 to 35, they must be a High School Graduate, and have at least 60 College Credits, more information is available at 607-561-7487.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded last Thursday to the report of a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road on State Highway 23 in the Town of Davenport. Deputies observed a vehicle matching the description parked in front of the Tractor Supply, they made contact with the driver, 36-year-old Marie Schneider of Oneonta, she was charged with DWI, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC greater than 0.18%, a, among other charges, She was released on traffic summonses and is to appear in the Town of Davenport Court at a later date.

50 year old Andras Kasuba of Brooklyn appeared before the Delaware County Court this week and was sentenced to time served to be followed by 5 years’ probation supervision for Aggravated Vehicular Assault and Driving While Intoxicated. On March 18, 2023, Kasuba was the driver of a vehicle in a crash where 3 individuals suffered serious injuries. Kasuba had a BAC 2.5 times the legal limit, he fled Delaware County and he was also the subject of a deportation proceeding in which he also failed to appear. Kasuba was eventually apprehended in Brooklyn by New York City Police & was returned to Delaware County for sentencing, he may still face deportation to Hungary.

State Police and local law enforcement agencies will participate in the national enforcement initiative on impaired driving in the week leading up to this year’s Super Bowl. The campaign which runs through Sunday, and targets underage drinking enforcement, along with increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers. During the 2024 Super Bowl weekend campaign, law enforcement officers arrested 262 people for impaired driving and issued 8,388 total tickets.

The latest Sienna College poll shows that 39% of New Yorkers view Governor Kathy Hochul favorably, while 47% do not. New Yorkers did supported 10 proposals from Hochul’s State of the State and her by a 42 to 26% margin, especially the budget plans, free breakfast and lunch for public school students, boosting the child tax credit, and limiting cellphone use at school.
