Today is Election Day, with many positions to be decided by voters. New Yorkers are voting for 1 US Senate Seat, All House of Representative seats, Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller & all seats in the State Assembly & State Senate. Locally, voters will also decide on races for Otsego County Sheriff, Broome County Sheriff, the 6th District of the State Supreme Court, plus many town level seats are being decided. Polling places will be open until 9:00 PM.

The State Attorney General’s Office reminds voters that their office’s Election Day Hotline is available for those experiencing issues at their polling place today. The Hotline is 800-771-7755; voters can also email their issues to civil.rights@ag.ny.gov through 9:00 PM tonight. The hotline is staffed by attorneys and staff in the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Bureau.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 3 Delhi area residents on felony drug possession charges following the execution of a high risk search warrant at a Meredith Street in Delhi. Deputies seized bulk packaged heroin and 30 bags of packaged heroin, marijuana, a scale and drug packaging paraphernalia. Investigators arrested 50-year-old Ramar Hassell and 54-year-old Valerie Alexander of Delhi for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Hassell was also charged with Resisting Arrest. Investigators also arrested 25-year-old William Effner of Delancey and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument. All 3 were arraigned & were remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $100,000 cash bail pending their appearance in the Town of Delhi Court on November 9th.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will present a talk at The Glimmerglass Festival, scheduled for July 26th at 4:00PM. The program will feature members of the Glimmerglass Young Artists Program enacting selected scenes that deal with law and justice, followed by Justice Ginsburg’s insights. This will be Justice Ginsburg’s 6th time at The Glimmerglass Festival. A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonat & Oneonta Job Corps Academy are partnering for the 2nd year with The American Red Cross to bring the Oneonta community a blood drive competition this Thursday & Friday. Fox Spokesperson Gabrielle Argo explains:

Oneonta Job Corps Academy will host the 1st blood drive on Thursday, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in their campus gymnasium. Fox Hospital will host its blood drive Friday, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the FoxCare Center. Last Year, Fox Hospital won the competition with 76 units of blood collected, followed closely by Oneonta Job Corps Academy, who gathered 68 units. The American Red Cross needs blood donations following a recently devastating series of hurricane disasters across the country, more than 36,000 units of blood are being used each day nationwide.

State Police Investigators are looking to identify a man who is linked to the larceny of two generators, solar lights, propane tanks, a kayak paddle and several signs in the town of Guilford. The items were taken between October 13 and 14 from two properties. The vehicle used in the crime is a maroon colored, four-door Nissan Frontier with a ladder rack, carrying two kayaks. State Police were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at Nirchi’s Pizza located at 701 Taft Avenue. The suspect was armed with a rifle and left with an undermined amount of money. He fled on foot behind the business; No one was hurt during the incident. He is described as a white male, medium build, clean shaven, wearing a green poncho, dark rain type pants, dark boots and a black knit hat with eye holes cut out. The investigation is still on going at this time. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is requested to contact the New York State Police at 775-1241.
