State Police are requesting the public’s help finding 36-year-old JESSICA MARBLE of Altamont. Marble left her residence Sunday evening without medication that she needs for a serious medical condition, she left her cell phone and her dog behind & she missed a meeting with friends in Amsterdam on Sunday evening. Marble’s car is a black 2015 Honda CRV, it entered the State Thruway at Exit 25A, Interstate 88, and left at Exit 25, she may have re-entered the Thruway at Exit 27 & and left at Exit 34, Canastota, at about 4:00 AM Monday. Marble is 5’ 2” tall, weighs about 140 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair; her license plate number is “DBK1402”. Anyone with information can call state police at (518) 783-3211.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer visited upstate Monday, where he expressed his support for a proposal to place rollover bars on farm tractors. Schumer cited statistics that show that farmers are 8 times more likely to die on the job than most workers. Schumer said that the Trump administration’s proposed budget for 2018, cuts the Northeast Center for Occupation Safety and Health for Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, which is a rebate program that helps farmers purchase lifesaving equipment, including the “rollover bars.” The program is supported by the National Tractor Safety Council.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 49-year-old William Scherer of Bloomville for DWI, Driving with Blood Alcohol Content above .08%, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, during a traffic stop in the Town of Kortright. Deputies responded to a report of an erratic operator, Scherer was released on appearance tickets, and scheduled to appear at the Town of Kortright Court at a later date.

Governor Cuomo’s office announced that the New York Mets will be moving their Triple A minor league team form Las Vegas to Syracuse, after the team bought the Syracuse Chiefs franchise. The acquisition puts the Mets top 2 level farm teams in upstate New York, as Double A Binghamton has been affiliated with the Mets since the early 90’s. The Washington Nationals have had their Triple A team in Syracuse for several years, and they will need to relocate.

Governor Cuomo today announced that 118 names would be added to the State Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Cuomo stated that of the 118, 114 firefighters suffered injuries and illnesses as a result of their efforts following 9/11. The Fallen Firefighters Memorial now honors 2,524 individuals who lost their lives in the line of duty. Governor Cuomo also issued 2 proclamations, marking Today as Firefighter Appreciation Day and the week of October 8th to the 14th as Fire Prevention Week.

The Delaware County Office for the Aging announced today that they are moving to their new location at 97 Main Street in Delhi. The agency will be closed for business tomorrow through this Friday; any emergency situation regarding the Office should be forwarded to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department at 832-5555. The Office for the Aging will re-open at the new location on Monday, October 16th.

A new report from State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli estimates that locally owned bridges need $27 billion in repairs, with 13% of all locally owned bridges are considered structurally deficient. The report suggests that repairs or upgrades are needed to support heavier loads, while others are prone to, or have been damaged by floods. DiNapoli’s report states that local officials will have to work with their state and federal counterparts to ensure there’s money to pay for critical repairs. Locally, Delaware County had 6.9% of their bridge structurally deficient, Chenango County has 12.2%, and Otsego County had 14%.
