The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced the availability of low interest loans related to storm damage caused by the remnants of tropical Storm Debby, August 8-10. Low-interest disaster loans will be made available to certain Private Non-Profit organizatIons, such as food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools and colleges. Eligible PNPs can call the Delaware County Emergency Services Office at (607) 832-5600 or the Delaware County Planning Office (607) 832-5444 to get more information. Also, The Office of Disaster Recovery at the State Department of Homeland Security has scheduled a virtual Applicants Briefing at 10:00 AM on Tuesday October 8th. Binghamton Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 41 year old Tyrell Norris in his apartment on the city’s North Side Monday Night. Norris was wounded by a bullet that was fired during a dispute in the parking lot outside the Town and Country Apartments at 100 Roberts Street. Norris was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City where he was pronounced dead. Police also found out that another man suffered a gunshot wound to a foot about a block away from the Norris shooting at 104 Liberty Street. Norris was “an uninvolved party” who was struck by gunfire while in his residence, anyone with information should call Binghamton police detective division at (607) 772-7080.

42 year old James English pleaded guilty to 2nd Murder today in Broome County Court. On June 6, 2023, English stabbed Jessica Picciano 31 times causing her death, English will be sentenced on January 7, 2025 where he is expected to receive 23-years-to- life-in State Prison.

Chenango County Public Health announced that vaccines against RSV, COVID 19 & the flu are available at their office at 5 Court Street in Norwich. Clinics will be held on Fridays in the Month of October, more information is available at the Chenango County Public Health Facebook page.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43 year old Lori Devine of Sherburne for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Nuisance, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Devine was charged after an investigation into drug activity, she is accused of selling Methamphetamine and Fentanyl from her residence in the Town of Sherburne, During the execution of the search warrant, Devine attempted to dispose of physical evidence, she was taken into custody, Officers seized Methamphetamine, and Fentanyl. Devine was arraigned & was released on her own recognizance. Devine is to appear in the Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.
