State Police arrested 44 year old Scott Mawhiney of Deposit for 1st degree attempted murder, following the shooting of Trooper Ryan Thorpe last night in Deposit. Troopers responded to a domestic dispute after 9:00 Last night on Sunrise Terrace, Trooper Thorpe was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, where he recovering form emergency Surgery, Mawhiney was taken into custody & was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail, the investigation is continuing.

NYSEG announced that their crews have successfully restore power to over 9000 Delaware County Customers who lost power this morning.   About 1/3rd of Delaware County customers were without power in the middle & eastern townships, several school districts had to delay scheduled activities this morning due to the outage.  NYSEG Officials told WCDO News that the issue was a failed insulator at the Delhi Substation, power was out from about 5:30 this morning until about 12:00 Noon.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 26 year old David Johnson of Norwich following the investigation of a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Pittsfield on June 16TH.  Johnson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, DWI, Driving while Ability Impaired by Drugs & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, among several other charges, Johnson is accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine, he was taken to Bassett Medical Center for injuries sustained during the accident, he was processed & issued an appearance ticket for Pittsfield Court at a later date.

Chenango County Public Health reported that they now have no hospitalizations from the COVID 19 virus.  They are down to 10 active cases, 28 Quarantines, with 3325 recoveries, 3507 total cases & 77 deaths since the pandemic begin last year.

The DICK’S Sporting Goods Open will be held next week, June 28th through July 4th this year, organizer Dave Pessagno told WCDO News that they had to keep the numbers down when scheduling this event earlier this year:

Pessagno said that they are hoping to get back to normal attendance numbers of about 25,000 peak during the 2022 Dick’s Sporting Goods Open festivities in Endicott.

Governor Cuomo announced that New York will end the state disaster emergency declared on March 7, 2020 to fight COVID-19 today. Federal CDC guidance will remain in effect, which includes masks for unvaccinated individuals, as well as all riders on public transit and in certain settings, such as health care, nursing homes, correctional facilities, and homeless shelters. State and local government health departments will still be able to ensure mask rules and other health precautions are adhered to in those settings.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50 year old Susan Raczkowski of Milford following a wood shed fire June 17th that was deemed suspicious by the Milford Fire Department.   Raczkowski was charged with 4th-degree arson and criminal mischief; she was issued an appearance ticket and will return to court at a later date.
