Our 4th Annual Heavy Metal Haul Out Fundraiser for the Delaware Valley Humane Society, with Waste Recovery Enterprises was successful for the month of May, raising a substantial amount for the shelter, Director Erin Insinga explains:

Insinga said that the plan is to have the Heavy Metal Haul out Twice a Year, people can haul out their scrap metal again in September. A fundraising Barbecue will be held at the Delaware Valley Humane Society site Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

In the midst of tick season, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced her push for federal funding to research tick-borne illnesses:

Ticks are widespread throughout Upstate New York and has been a significant problem at Fort Drumm near Watertown, Gillibrand said that the issue has not been well-studied, and money would go to the CDC & The NIH among others to ramp up research on Lyme Disease.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39 year old Teriann Connolly of Binghamton on a drug charge. On September 5th, 2023, Deputies were dispatched to assist the Delaware County Probation Department, after a search, Connolly was found to be in possession of Fentanyl. At the conclusion of their investigation, Connolly was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, she was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Davenport Court at a later date.

The State Labor Department announced that the number of Private Sector Jobs increased by .2%, to 8.37 million in May 2024. The State’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.2% in May 2024, the State’s labor force participation rate held constant at 61.3% in May 2024.

45 year old Hayes Cutting of Bainbridge was sentenced to 1 1/2 to 3 years in state prison for Aggravated Family Offense in the Village of Sidney. On January 28, Officers responded to an ongoing domestic dispute, where Cutting allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck, shoved her to the ground, and began striking her, Cutting left the scene before Sidney Police responded. Cutting pleaded guilty to the charge in April & was sentenced Tuesday.

22 year old Devon Kupris of Kortright was convicted of Driving While Intoxicated in the Town of Kortright Local Criminal Court Tuesday, he pleaded guilty from an incident in January when a Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to help a vehicle on the roadside, Kupris was exhibiting signs of impairment, he pleaded guilty to DWI & Was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge and ordered that he install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle he owns or operates, his license was revoked for 6 months and he was ordered to attend a victim impact panel and an Impaired Drivers’ Program, If he fails to comply, he could be re-sentenced to 1 year in jail.

The Village of Bainbridge announced that they will have crews milling on Walnut Street from Pearl Street East to the ball fields, starting this morning. The milling is expected to take up to 7 hours, Traffic on Walnut street will be restricted.
