Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced that they are offering an online civil service exam for Corrections Officers. Qualified candidates who will be 18 years of age and who will have either a high school diploma or GED before the end of the exam submission period of June 30th, can apply for the exam until tomorrow through the Delaware County Personnel Office, the application can be found at: delcony.us.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced 2 more Public Safety Town Halls taking place this month in the towns of Windsor and Vestal. Sheriff Fred Akshar, Undersheriff Sammy Davis, and other members of the Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to discuss public safety issues, answer questions, The Windsor Public Safety Town Hall will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at the Windsor Central High School Cafeteria, the Vestal Public Safety Town Hall will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at the Vestal Elks Lodge on the Vestal Parkway

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Brent Falkenmeyer of Deposit. On Tuesday afternoon in Unadilla, Deputies & State Police, located and arrested Brent Falkenmeyer who had an active arrest warrant out of the Town of Deposit court for Failure to Register a Change of address as a Sex Offender. Falkenmeyer was arraigned in Town of Deposit Court, he was released on his own recognizance & will return to court at a later date.

The Rural Schools Association of New York State is hosting a “Rural Issues Forum Series” for the South-central Catskills Region tonight, featuring David Little, Executive Director of the Rural Schools Association The event will be held at 6:00 pm at the Delaware Academy and Delhi Central School, Little will provide updates on the state of our rural schools and communities from a position of legislative advocacy.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced thousands of state jobs are open and available for immediate hiring in the health and human services fields across ten state agencies as part of the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Program. A new webpage and portal are available that list the HELP job openings and allows candidates to upload an application and resume for positions they are interested in at cs.ny.gov/help.

The State Office of the Comptroller continues its initiative to help New Yorkers get back their lost money, as the Comptroller’s Office holds over 49 million unclaimed funds accounts valued at $18.4 billion as of May. The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office announced that 41 year old Vincent Rispoli of Delhi pleaded guilty to DWI in Delaware County Court. Rispoli admitted to driving while intoxicated on November 20 of 2021 in the town of Delhi he was sentenced to 3 years of probation supervision, he must complete the adult treatment Court program, his license is revoked & he must install interlock devices on all his vehicles.

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced that Joel Valdes-Pica of Binghamton was sentenced to 6 years in New York State prison after pleading guilty to Attempted Robbery in the 2nd Degree. In December of 2021, Valdes-Pica assaulted someone making a deposit at the M&T Bank ATM on Exchange Street and stole over $1,000, he also has a prior felony conviction for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree from 2014.
