Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Met with Commerce Chenango Members and held a Zoom Meeting with area business owners & leaders of Non Profit organizations, discussing the various problems they are facing because of the pandemic.  Congresswoman Tenney said that 2 items that the keeps hearing about  it the importance of helping Small businesses, and finally getting broadband service to all sectors of the 22nd district & beyond:

Tenney also scheduled a visit to Chenango Memorial Hospital this afternoon to tour the renovations underway at the facility in Norwich.

State Police and local law enforcement will be participating in the national “U Drive, U Text, U Pay” mobilization to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month nationwide, & Law enforcement throughout the state will be stepping up patrols during this enforcement initiative, which runs today through Monday, April 12th.  The initiative follows the recent death of Trooper Joe Gallagher, who died last month from injuries sustained in 2017 when he was struck by a vehicle where the driver was distracted by texting on a cellphone.

The State Health department continues to work to get as many New Yorkers Vaccinated as soon as possible.  So Far, 35.1% of New Yorkers have received at least 1 vaccine dose and 22.3% have completed their vaccine series.  Over 223,000 total doses were administered over the past 24 hours and over 11, Million total doses administered to date.

Chenango County Public Health reported 12 new COVID 19 cases today; they have 114 Active Cases, 7 hospitalized & 346 Active Quarantines. The County reported 2912 Confirmed Cases with 2655 Recoveries & they have tested over 96700 patients.

State DEC announced that they are providing several opportunities for junior hunters, ages 12-15 and trappers under 12 years old, to spend time with experienced adult hunters and trappers. The full list of programs & educational opportunities can be found at dec.ny.gov/outdoor.

Binghamton Mayor Rich David announced today that an agreement has been reached on a 25 year lease extension between the City of Binghamton and the Ross Park Zoo.  Mayor David said that the Ross Park Zoo is currently the 5th oldest in the United States.

A.M.  NEWS THURSDAY 4-8-21

State Police investigated a shooting in the city of Oneonta Tuesday afternoon.   Oneonta Police responded to a report of a domestic incident on River Street, where they encountered a male subject armed with a knife, an officer fired his weapon, striking the subject, who later died at Albany Medical Center.  State Police have identified the deceased as 23 year old Tyler Green of Oneonta; the officer is identified as Sergeant Ralph Pajerski of the City of Oneonta Police Department. The investigation has been turned over to the State Attorney General’s office.

The Town of Sidney will hold a public hearing tonight at 7:00 PM, regarding possible zoning law changes affected Sidney Center, Sidney Town Supervisor Gene Pigford commented:

Chenango County Health Department is hosting a Single Dose Vaccine clinic at the Old Label Shopper on Today from 2:00 to 5:30 pm for Eligible Individuals 18 and older.  Registration is available at co.chenango.ny.us

Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a first dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic today at 97 Main Street Delhi from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Registration is mandatory, at apps2.health.ny.gov/doh2.  Public Health reported 16 new COVID 19 cases yesterday, out of 425 tested; they have 157 active cases, 308 quarantined & 10 hospitalized.
