Governor Cuomo announced a statewide crackdown on distracted driving as part of April’s National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Operation Hang Up targets drivers on electronic devices today through April 10th. Preliminary data indicates a 918 percent increase in tickets for texting while driving in New York State from 2011 to 2016. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nationwide in 2015, 3,477 people were killed in distracted driving crashes and an estimated 391,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies president John Hughes gave a tour of the renovations at NYSEG Stadium today to local dignitaries & the media. Team Spokesman Ed Saunders said that fans will enjoy the upgrades around the ballpark:

The $2.5-million project construction is scheduled to be complete before the Rumble Ponies home opener on April 13th. . The Rumble Ponies open their season on the road in New Hampshire today. Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38 year old Ronald Boecke of davenport for 2 counts of Failure to Register an E-mail and/or Internet address, as required by the Sex Offender Registration Act. Boecke was arrested at the Delaware County Correctional Facility where he was being held on a Probation Violation charge, he was arraigned on the latest charge & was sent back to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond pending future court action.

State Police arrested 29 year old Robert Shultz of Lisle, for felony Sexual Abuse. The arrest occurred after troopers investigated a crime in the Town of Triangle, where Shultz is accused of having sexual contact with the victim by forcible compulsion. Shultz was arraigned in the Town of Triangle Court and was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 1-car roll-over accident Monday evening on County Highway 14 in the Town of Meredith. 18 year old Dylan Cumpston of Delhi escaped the vehicle, he was transported to O’Connor Hospital in Delhi where he was treated & released. Deputies issued Cumpston was charged with failure to keep right and unlawful possession of marihuana, he will appear in the Town of Meredith Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Cuomo said that agreements were made on the Millionaire’s Tax, on the middle-class tax cut, on the Clean Water program, on ride sharing, on college affordability, workers comp, property tax reform, a prescription drug program & an opioid program.
