Governor Cuomo announced today that the state has 92,381 cases of the Coronavirus, 13,383 hospitalized, 3396 of those are in ICU beds, over 7400 have recovered & the Death Toll is 2373.

Governor Cuomo said that as a Governor he cannot order a company to begin manufacturing items that health care professionals need to battle the Coronavirus, he did implore businesses to contact the state to find out how they can go about it:

The Governor also said that while the epicenter is downstate, all rural upstate Counties all have at least 1 Coronavirus positive case, and that does not bode well for the rest of the country:

Cuomo said that the latest models suggest that the apex of coronavirus cases could happen within 7 to 30 days, depending on the success of social distancing.

Chenango County Health Department announced today that they have positive 32 cases of the coronavirus.  99 people are in Precautionary Quarantine, there are 200 people in Mandatory Quarantine,

On Wednesday afternoon, members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin 1st responders were dispatched to a single vehicle roll-over accident, involving serious personal injury, on Dunk Hill Road in the Town of Franklin.  The driver, 41 year old Matthew Baxter of Franklin was entrapped and partially ejected from the vehicle.  Life Net helicopter air-lifted Baxter to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, a dog riding in the truck was not injured.  The Investigation revealed that Baxter lost control, struck a culvert, became airborne and over-tuned before striking a tree with the roof of the vehicle, preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed was a contributing factor.

The Village of Sidney police Department announced today, that the village has closed all public playgrounds and basketball courts. They will remain closed until further notice

The City of Oneonta announced that they will begin yard waste and brush curbside pickups on April 13th.  Pickups in Oneonta’s First through Fourth Wards will start on the 13th, Pickup in the Fifth through Eighth Wards will begin April 20th.  More information is available at 432-2100.

The State budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year is getting wrapped up, State Budget Director Robert Mujica said that the state will lose 10 billion dollars in revenue between now & July 15th, due to the virtual shutdown of the state, and the push back of filing state taxes until July 15th, all due to the Coronavirus.  The budget shortfall is expected to be about 15 billion dollars in the new budget, the state does have some money in reserve to deal with it & it will be revisited in the month ahead after the number of Coronavirus cases decreases to manageable levels & non-essential workers can go back to work.

The State Department of Labor announced that 369,025 initial Unemployment Insurance claims were filed for the week ending March 28th, an increase of 288,516 claims from the 80,509 claims that were filed the previous week. Compared to last year, initial claims for Unemployment Insurance increased by 2,674%.

State Police Superintendent Keith Corlett announced the State Police have launched a new recruiting effort to attract the best and brightest qualified candidates to join The State Police. The State Police will be holding a new Trooper entrance examination this fall. Online applications are now being accepted, to apply, candidates can visit joinstatepolice.ny.gov and apply online, they can text JoinNYSP to (518) 240-3959, or call 1-866-NYSP-EXAM. The exams will be held in October.

Delaware County has had its first death from the coronavirus, the deceased had been hospitalized with the disease and died Wednesday. Delaware county has 19 positve cases so far, excluding 4 positve tests that were returned to their county of residence. 2 people have recovered, 10 are recovering at Home, 6 are hospitalized, 43 are in Mandatory Quarantine & 9 are in Precautionary Quarantine, 182 people have been tested.

The Broome County Health Department announced their latest coronavirus numbers Wednesday afternoon.  They have 41 total cases, with 4 deaths, the latest being a man in his 70’s at Lourdes Hospital Tuesday.  40 people in precautionary quarantine and 145 in mandatory Quarantine, 6 people have recovered
