The sentencing of disgraced ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has been postponed until May 3rd in a Manhattan federal courtroom. Silver was found guilty by a federal jury in November on corruption charges, Last week, Silver’s defense lawyers asked Judge Valerie Caproni to move sentencing to May 3rd & to set a date to hear arguments related to revealing secret documents at Silver’s sentencing.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch And the Assembly Task Force on the Developmentally Disabled will hold a meeting today at SUNY Broome Decker Health Sciences Center Room 201, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Crouch comments about the meeting:

Crouch said that the state has been closing homes for the developmental disabled and putting them into smaller group home facilities, which may be detrimental to those who were previously cared for at Broome Developmental & other larger scale facilities with many more amenities, friends & staff available.

Governor Cuomo announced the submission of 210 vetoes, eliminating pages of unnecessary language from the 2016-17 Enacted Budget. The vetoes include 18 reappropriations for items that had previously been fully paid out. 132 appropriations already received adequate funding within State agency operations, and 15 were duplicative, 27 reappropriations have been vetoed previously and therefore cannot be reappropriated, & 14 appropriations were unconstitutional.

Town of Bainbridge officials announced that Kelly Road between routes 7 & 8 is closed today. Crews will be replacing a culvert; the road is expected to be opened to traffic later today or tomorrow following completion of the project.
