The Chenango County Planning Department is hosting a traveling training session, in conjunction with “Getthere,” from the Rural Health Network of South Central New York. Shane Butler of the Chenango County Planning Department explains:

Butler said that a Getthere representative will visit the Norwich American Legion from 10 am. to 12 pm. on March 27 to train organizations and individuals on how to utilize their services.

Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced that 21 year old Lavar McDaniel was sentenced in Broome County Court to 8 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post release supervision, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The prison sentence will be followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, on July 4, 2024, he Binghamton Police observed a vehicle with all the brake lights activated and the engine running, they found McDaniel slumped over the steering wheel, he was also wanted on an active arrest warrant, a search of the vehicle revealed a digital scale, narcotics, a firearm, and a firearm magazine. 2 years were added to McDaniels sentence following a assault of another inmate in the Broome County Correctional Facility.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44 year old Karli Sydor of Albany after an investigation into falsified business records involving medicine. Sydor turned herself in to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office today, she was charged with 3 counts of falsifying business records, for allegedly altering medical records to cover shortages in medicine after failing to resupply orders in a timely fashion. She was fired as a nurse immediately, and left the area and a warrant was issued for her arrest, she is scheduled to appear in Middlefield town court at a later date.

State Police arrested 25 year old Nathanael Moon of Franklin Sunday for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling on Main Street in the city of Oneonta at an abnormally slow speed, Moon was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which confirmed impairment. Moon was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta where he was additionally evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert. Moon was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta City Court on April 2nd, and was released to a sober third party.

34 year old Jade Pittsley of Binghamton was sentenced in Federal Court to 8 years in prison following her guilty plea to escaping from federal custody and possessing and intending to distribute methamphetamine. As part of her prior guilty plea, Pittsley admitted that in November 2023, while she was serving a federal term of imprisonment for a drug offense involving methamphetamine, she was under the supervision of a halfway house. Pittsley was directed to return to the halfway house but never did. Days later, law enforcement found Pittsley carrying methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her purse. Pittsley was also sentenced to a 4-year term of supervised release after she is released from prison.

The CDO Workforce is holding a mini job fair & employment information sessions today at 5460 State Highway 12 in Norwich. Representatives from Achieve, UHS & Chenango County are looking to fill positions locally, the job fair will run from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
